Description

The team designs avionics architectures for civil and military helicopters, and this role shapes the cyber security part of that architecture.

You would work in the avionics systems group of the design office in Donauwörth, alongside the helicopter's avionics architect.

Civil work aims at EASA certification of a new helicopter or approval of a change to an existing one. Military work aims at cyber security certification by the responsible authority.

Donauwörth lies on the Danube near Augsburg. Helicopters are built there from first concept to a flight-ready product, and the site has its own test airfield.

Responsibilities

  • Write the cyber security processes into the company's engineering process platform and keep them aligned with the support processes.
  • Assess the security risks of the helicopter configuration and set the security requirements for the embedded system, covering both functional and assurance needs.
  • Track the development of security functions against their design assurance level.
  • Document how the design meets airworthiness requirements and contribute to the helicopter's security accreditation.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering or computer science, plus substantial experience and further training, or a doctorate completed after the degree.
  • Alternatively, a master's degree in the same fields, plus extended experience and further training, or a doctorate completed after the degree.
  • A degree in aerospace engineering or computer science with a security specialisation, either within the master's or through an additional programme.
  • At least 5 years in embedded systems or cyber security, including solid systems engineering experience.
  • Fluent German and English at negotiation level. French is desirable.
  • Knowledge of aeronautical standards such as ARP 4754, ARP 4761, ED-202 and ED-203.
  • Ability to specify and apply the functional side of security mechanisms: authentication, access control, rights management, signatures, firewalls, encryption, segregation and intrusion detection.
  • You do not need to match 100% of the profile. Tailored development support is offered.
  • Awareness of potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity.

Conditions

Permanent contract at professional experience level.

Based at the Donauwörth site, with a 35-hour working week.

The company welcomes applicants regardless of background, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation or religion.

Benefits

  • Attractive salary plus individual extras such as company pension schemes, mobility offers like bike leasing, and employee discounts with partner companies, under current guidelines.
  • 30 days of annual leave under the collective agreement.
  • Flextime, mobile working, part-time, job sharing and sabbatical options.
  • Strong training options and international career paths across the group.
  • On-site company doctor, health programmes such as sports courses and preventive care, a canteen and cafeteria, and childcare at some locations.
  • A workforce of more than 140 nationalities.
