Description

What you'll be doing

What We Need

Corpay is looking for an Enterprise Architect ( Modernisation Programme | International Corporate Payments) to join our Architecture team based in London. UK. This is a senior, hands-on architecture role within the Modernisation programme, responsible for replacing the legacy platforms that underpin International Corporate Payments. You will define the architectural direction for your domains and see it through delivery, making decisions that influence how the business operates, scales and evolves over the long term.

Core payment platforms must remain available to customers while capabilities, data and integrations transition to a modern, scalable architecture across data centre and cloud environments. Success requires an architect who can see the enterprise as a whole, design safe and reversible transition states, and protect quality when delivery pressure increases.

Reporting to the VP of Architecture, you will be a trusted technical adviser to product, engineering and delivery leaders, as well as executive and investment forums. Your influence will extend beyond your immediate domains.

Role Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this role will include :

Setting the direction

Defining target and transition architectures for your domains, together with a roadmap sequencing legacy replacement and decommissioning against business priorities, dependencies, and risk.

Contributing to the overall Modernisation architecture, bringing an enterprise perspective connecting your domains with divisional and group strategy.

Shaping the strategic data foundation across ingestion, transformation, and serving layers, ensuring master data management spanning each layer so the business can trust and reuse its data.

Evaluating emerging technologies, cloud services, and AI-assisted engineering for strategic fit, and making clear, evidence-based recommendations.

Making change safe

Leading the decomposition of core payment platforms into clearly bounded capabilities, using patterns such as strangler fig, anti-corruption layers, and event-driven integration.

Designing coexistence and migration approaches, including data synchronisation, replication, cutover, and rollback, to keep live services stable throughout change.

Simplifying the integration landscape by removing point-to-point dependencies on legacy systems and bringing acquired businesses onto standard patterns.

Embedding security, privacy, and PCI DSS compliance in every design, with particular attention to cardholder and personal data during migration.

Designing for operability so that new services are resilient, observable, and supportable from day one.

Raising the bar

Taking designs through architecture governance and design authority with clear, well-reasoned decisions, and helping delivery teams apply standards and patterns effectively.

Developing reusable patterns that improve architecture quality across the wider organisation.

Helping define how AI-assisted engineering is adopted safely and consistently across the programme.

Mentoring solution architects, technical leads, and engineers, strengthening architecture capability across delivery teams.

Communicating complex trade-offs clearly and confidently to engineers, executives, and investment forums, tailoring documentation to each audience.
