Description

The company is a security-first enterprise AI firm that builds foundation models and end-to-end products for real business problems.

It trains and deploys frontier models for enterprises building AI systems, and sees this work as central to wider AI adoption.

The company is a global technology business headquartered in Toronto, with offices in London, New York City, San Francisco, Montreal, Paris, Berlin and Seoul.

The team manages the inference APIs and SDKs, plus the company Dashboard, where customers use models, manage teams and audit billing. The role leads that team, which works with internal partners to make the APIs and Dashboard feel consistent and easy to use. You will act as mentor, strategist and technologist, staying hands-on while guiding the team toward shared goals.

Researchers, engineers, designers and others make up the company, and each person is expected to help improve model capability and the value those models give customers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, mentor and grow a team of backend and full-stack engineers.
  • Take part in model releases and build new API capabilities.
  • Work closely with the Modelling and Model Serving teams.
  • Partner with UX designers so customers can manage teams, API keys, billing and configuration with ease.
  • Oversee open source projects and contribute to them.

Requirements

  • Experience managing engineering teams and a record of shipping high-quality software.
  • Experience delivering products with many stakeholders.
  • Comfort working across front end and back end, with prior use of Go, Next.js, TypeScript and React.
  • Strong interest in recruiting and developing people and teams.
  • Commitment to building rapport with your team, with 1:1s as a priority.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, with a belief that documentation drives feedback and technical discussion.
  • Ability to turn complex needs and goals into explanations anyone can follow.
  • Enthusiasm for AI and the drive to help a company grow.

Conditions

Remote-friendly, with offices in Toronto, London, New York City, San Francisco, Montreal, Paris, Berlin and Seoul, and more planned.

Office-based staff get a daily lunch program, snacks and regular community and social events.

Remote staff get a co-working benefit in their city.

Candidates who do not match every point are still encouraged to apply.

The company is committed to equal opportunity. Accommodation requests can be made through the recruitment process.

AI-enabled tools may be used to screen applicants against the role's criteria, and recruiters can still review any application.

Benefits

  • Weekly lunch stipend of $75 (£75 or the local-currency equivalent).
  • Full health and dental cover, with a separate mental health budget.
  • RRSP matching, 401(k) and a pension scheme.
  • 100% parental leave top-up for up to 6 months, for either parent.
  • Annual enrichment budget for arts and culture, fitness and wellness, quality time, and a workspace improvement credit.
  • Education and learning stipend for conferences, courses and coaching.
  • 6 weeks of paid vacation (30 working days).
  • Budget for travel to other offices if you are remote, plus an annual company offsite.
  • $500 home office stipend.
