Description

The role is open only to candidates living in British Columbia or Ontario, Canada, since the company can currently hire only employees residing in those provinces.

The Integrations team builds the product and platform features that connect the company's product with the tools customers already use. So far the team has set up the first outbound integration with Workday and released an MCP Server that more than 100 customers use. It is now extending into ingesting productivity data from third-party tools to power Auto Updates and Evidence-Based Reviews.

The company wants an Engineering Manager to help this team grow its reach: bringing integrations to market, building reusable platform pieces and playbooks, and setting up the operating discipline that lets each new integration ship better than the one before.

The Engineering team keeps improving the product and its craft. It uses a current tech stack, tries new technologies, and works closely with designers and product managers. The team values solid architecture and a strong product experience, and it aims for code that is maintainable, robust, and fast.

Responsibilities

  • Take third-party integrations and platform capabilities from prioritization through launch and ongoing operation.
  • Build reusable playbooks, technical patterns, and processes that cut the time needed to launch future integrations.
  • Mentor and coach engineers, helping them grow technically and tie their development to team and company goals.
  • Keep pushing to improve engineering practice and process.
  • Keep customers around the world having a smooth, reliable experience while the team still ships quickly.
  • Work with your team, Product, and Design on new customer-facing products and improvements to existing ones.
  • Represent your team across the wider organization, giving it credit for wins and owning its misses.

Requirements

  • You have managed software engineers directly for 4+ years, including guiding and coaching their development, giving performance feedback, hiring, and building a diverse, collaborative, inclusive team.
  • You have led integrations, API or developer platform, ecosystem, or marketplace teams.
  • You have shipped and run third-party integrations, handling partner dependencies and API reliability.
  • You are strong at people leadership, including coaching for growth and promotion and dealing with sustained underperformance.
  • You set up clear mechanisms for prioritization, delivery, quality, and cross-functional decisions.
  • You partner well with Product, TPM, GTM, and external technical stakeholders, and you can build agreement in complicated discussions.
  • You link technical strategy to organizational goals and deliver measurable results.
  • You communicate clearly in writing and speech, adjusting for executives, engineers, and non-technical audiences.
  • You are comfortable owning vague, self-directed work and carrying it through to completion.
  • You are empathetic and put employees first, committed to helping people do the best work of their careers.
  • You live the company values: Ship Shipmate Self, Clear Eyes, Own The Outcome, and What's Next?
  • Preferred: experience with Node.js, React, Flow, GraphQL, Postgres, and AWS.
