Description

The company is part of DoorDash and works across DoorDash, Wolt and the company, so you may work with people, systems and leaders from all three.

The Unified Privacy Platform team is building one shared privacy foundation for consumers, Dashers and merchants. The aim is for them to see how their data is used, control their choices and exercise their privacy rights through simple, consistent experiences.

The team's work has three connected parts: the Privacy Center, a single user-facing place for privacy controls and rights; the Unified Privacy Platform, which records and enforces consent, policy, jurisdictional rules and privacy actions; and Privacy Operations and Intelligence, which gives Legal, Support, Privacy and engineering staff the workflows, diagnostics, audit history and automation to resolve privacy cases safely.

The goal is to replace one-off compliance work with reusable platform components that can support new products, brands and regulations.

Location: London, UK. Hybrid role with 3 days a week in the office.

You will lead the Unified Privacy Platform team, an engineering group of backend and platform engineers. The team builds the next generation of privacy and consent infrastructure: the Privacy Center, the User Consent Platform, privacy-policy decisioning, self-service data-rights experiences and the internal tools needed to manage privacy cases at global scale.

You will own a multi-year privacy vision. The work requires balancing legal correctness, user trust, security, reliability and developer speed, with systems that run the same way across DoorDash, Wolt and the company. You will be a strategic partner to Product, Legal, Security, Data Governance, Marketing and Communications, and engineering leadership, setting clear ownership boundaries and turning complex privacy rules into self-service capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coach a strong team of backend and platform engineers, building a culture of ownership, privacy by design, operational excellence and close work with other functions.
  • Set the technical direction for the Privacy Center, the Unified Privacy Platform and Privacy Operations and Intelligence.
  • Build the cross-brand User Consent Platform: canonical consent state, policy and configuration management, consent SDKs, audit history and consistent enforcement across products and jurisdictions.
  • Deliver simple self-service tools for consent and communication preferences, Right to be Forgotten (RTF), Right to Information (RTI) and Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs).
  • Convert new privacy and regulatory requirements into standard platform features rather than separate product builds.
  • Lead the move from fragmented legacy consent systems to one source of truth across DoorDash, Wolt and the company, managing compatibility and safe retirement of old systems.
  • Define contracts with data-governance fulfilment systems and downstream product and storage teams so privacy actions can be traced, retried, audited and shown correctly to users and operators.
  • Guide the architecture of distributed systems that handle sensitive user choices, policy evaluation, orchestration, secure data delivery, reporting and immutable audit trails.
  • Work with recruiters to build a diverse, inclusive team and to hire and keep strong engineers.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 8 years of industry experience, including 3+ years managing people who lead backend or platform teams.
  • Substantial experience as an engineer or engineering leader in a fast-moving, platform-focused environment.
  • Proven record designing large-scale distributed systems, service APIs, policy or rules engines, workflow orchestration, state machines, data-lifecycle systems or audit architectures.
  • Preferred: experience with privacy, consent, data governance or regulatory systems, including GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, data-subject rights, retention, deletion and legal holds.
  • Ability to turn unclear legal, policy and product requirements into clear platform boundaries, reusable abstractions and workable roadmaps.
  • Strong product judgement and the ability to work well with Legal, Product, Design, Security, Data, Marketing, Support and engineering across several brands and regions.
  • A growth mindset: keen to build new skills, raise the quality bar and build lasting systems in a fast-changing setting.

  • Flexible working, high standards, collaboration and continuous learning.
