Description

The company is now part of DoorDash, so you may work with teammates, systems, and leaders across DoorDash and Wolt as well as the company.

Cx App Foundations is a platform group inside the global Cx organisation. It supplies shared consumer foundations and platform capabilities to engineering teams at Wolt, DoorDash, and the company.

The Velocity team builds the standard route for consumer app development on mobile and web. That covers shared SDKs and client foundations, integration and multi-brand customisation patterns, migration guides and reference implementations, and developer tooling that makes building on those foundations quick and safe.

The goal is to lower the cost, time, and risk of building consumer experiences across platforms and brands, so product teams can focus on the experience itself. The team works AI-native, with AI built into how it designs, builds, and ships software.

You will lead experienced mobile and web engineers, working with product, design, and other platform groups across three brands. You will own the roadmap and delivery of shared client foundations and drive their adoption, so product teams can ship without rebuilding those foundations. You will also keep the team's operating model sound, with clear intake, predictable delivery, and support rules that stop the platform becoming a catch-all escalation queue. You will guide architecture and system design decisions with your tech leads and stay hands-on by writing code, reviewing work, and building prototypes. The role suits a leader who has run platforms, SDKs, or shared services for other engineering teams, communicates clearly across brands and time zones, and measures success by what other teams deliver on the foundations.

Based in London, UK. Hybrid, with 3 days a week in the office.

Responsibilities

  • Own the platform roadmap for the shared SDKs, client foundations, and developer tooling, and sequence it around the migration and adoption goals of the three brands.
  • Drive adoption by working with product teams, supporting onboarding and rollouts, and making the supported path the easiest one to take.
  • Lead, coach, and develop experienced mobile and web engineers through growth conversations, calibration, and regular feedback.
  • Maintain the operating model: intake covering stakeholder, shared-platform, product-specific, and exception work; supported capabilities with entry criteria and support expectations; and predictable delivery.
  • Guide architecture and system design for client foundations that three brands and several app platforms rely on.
  • Write code and review alongside the team, and promote AI-native development practices.
  • Grow the team by hiring.

Requirements

  • 3+ years managing engineers, including a team that has senior engineers.
  • 5+ years of solid mobile or web engineering, with enough depth to hold your own in architecture discussions about client foundations.
  • Fluent use of AI tools in daily work, and close involvement with the code.
  • Experience running a platform, SDK, or shared service that other teams depend on, and treating internal teams as customers.
  • Comfortable working across product, design, other platform groups, data and analytics, and stakeholders in other locations and time zones.
  • High standards for engineering quality, and the ability to handle production incidents and release trade-offs in a calm, structured way.

Location: London, UK.
