Team Overview:

The Amplify Engineering team builds internal tools, platforms, and AI-powered automation that help Klaviyos work more efficiently and at scale as the company grows. We partner across the organization, including Sales, Marketing, Engineering & Product, and Customer Service & Success to solve real operational problems with practical, well-designed software.

Our work spans internal applications, 3rd party integrations, interactive dashboards, CMS integrations, and robust AI systems and agents that automate repetitive tasks, surface the right information at the right time, and help teams make better decisions. We operate in tight feedback loops with our internal customers, shipping quickly, learning fast, and seeing the impact of our work immediately in how deals move faster, tickets resolve sooner, and launches go more smoothly.

As an Amplify EM, you will own klaviyo.com, Klaviyo Academy and the Help Center, along with the systems behind them: our Sanity CMS, the localization pipeline that publishes the site in multiple languages, personalization, and the tooling Marketing uses to produce campaign assets. We are replacing manual content and translation work with AI agents, from agentic translation scored against Smartling's own quality scale, to brief and bill-of-materials generation for campaigns, to automated asset creation in Figma.

This role is for builders and leaders who enjoy turning real-world pain points into reliable, scalable solutions. The work is highly visible and deeply impactful, shaping how thousands of Klaviyos get their work done every day through fast iteration, high ownership, and clear outcomes.

How You’ll Make an Impact:

The Amplify team builds the internal platforms, automation, and AI-driven systems that power how Klaviyos work every day. As an Engineering Manager, you will:

Lead the Amplify Marketing and Content Platform engineering teams and set the technical vision for klaviyo.com, Klaviyo Academy, the Help Center, and the content systems behind them.

Set and drive the roadmap for moving Marketing's content generation, translation, and asset production onto AI agents. You'll agree on quality bars with stakeholders, decide where a human stays in the loop, and measure each automation by the time and cost it removes.

Work side by side with Marketing, Brand, and Localization to map how content actually gets made today, and proactively replace the manual steps with AI agents, from copy and translations to campaign briefs and design assets.

Balance technical leadership and people leadership, setting direction, modeling best practices, and enabling teams to deliver efficiently.

Partner closely with engineers, product managers, designers, and leaders across Marketing, Brand, Growth, and Localization to turn their biggest bottlenecks into scalable, high-quality software.

Own the reliability, performance, and security of klaviyo.com, including on-call, incident response.

Foster a culture of innovation, systems thinking, technical excellence, and an AI-first mindset.

Build the quality systems that let agents take over human steps safely, including evaluations, observability, and review gates, so Marketing can trust what ships.

Requirements

  • You are passionate about building software effectively and for the long term, balancing technical quality, velocity, and business impact.
  • BA or BS Degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent experience.
  • You have 8+ years of hands-on software development experience building and operating high-traffic web products at scale, including 4+ years as an engineering manager leading teams through complex, cross-team initiatives using an agile, iterative approach.
  • You are an AI-native technical leader who stays hands-on, whether that means reviewing code, prototyping an agent, or debugging a production issue. You and your teams build with agentic coding tools such as Claude Code or Cursor, and you set the standards for how they use them.
  • You have shipped LLM-powered agents or workflows to production that replaced real manual work, with measured outcomes such as hours saved or cost, and you know what makes them reliable: tool use and MCP integrations, multi-step orchestration, human-in-the-loop review, and graceful fallback when the model is wrong.
  • You treat quality as an engineering problem. You use evaluations (golden sets, LLM-as-judge scoring, regression checks), observability for cost and failure rates, and brand and compliance guardrails to decide when an agent is ready to replace a human step.
  • You have a strong track record of end-to-end ownership, from design through delivery and operation, including estimating work, managing risk, meeting commitments, and running on-call, SLOs, and incident response for the systems your teams own.
  • You have led engineering for a high-traffic marketing website built on a modern front end such as TypeScript and React, owning its performance, SEO, conversion paths, analytics and tagging, and its reliability during launches.
  • You have partnered directly with Marketing, Brand, Growth and Localization teams, and you understand how campaign and content production actually works: briefs, creative review, approvals, launch calendars and last-minute changes.
  • You are a people-first leader and coach, experienced in hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and developing engineers through constructive feedback and growth opportunities, while fostering a healthy, collaborative team culture.
  • You like to question convention and thrive in small, autonomous teams that serve internal customers, ship early and often, and measure success by outcomes such as faster launches, lower cost per asset, and more localized content shipped.
  • Hands-on experience with internationalization and localization at scale, especially AI-driven translation with tools such as Smartling.
  • Experience using and integrating with headless CMSs like Sanity or Contentful.
  • Experience with experimentation, A/B testing, and personalization platforms such as Optimizely, AB Tasty, or Adobe Target.
  • Experience with Astro, Cloudflare Workers, Figma automation, digital asset management tools such as Bynder, or HubSpot.
  • Klaviyo’s platform is primarily built with Python and React and runs on AWS. New hires join us from a wide range of technical backgrounds and are supported in learning our stack. Core technologies for the Amplify team include:
  • Python / Django / FastAPI
  • TypeScript / React / Astro
  • Anthropic and OpenAI SDKs, MCP, and Claude Code for agentic development
  • Braintrust for LLM evaluation and observability
  • Sanity CMS
  • Optimizely
  • Figma
  • Smartling

  • Tableau
  • Cloudflare Pages/Workers
