Description

The team builds autonomy for uncrewed systems, moving from design to deployment on real-world problems. The role blends software development with robotics, perception and path planning.

The work centres on AI pilots for the team's Hivemind Solutions group. You will be on a strong team, and the role suits a capable C++ developer who cares about robotics and autonomy.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement autonomous behaviours for uncrewed aircraft.
  • Work at the meeting point of artificial intelligence, task and motion planning, and controls.
  • Build sensor fusion solutions that hold up on real sensor data.
  • Develop and test autonomy software in high-fidelity simulation and hardware-in-the-loop setups.
  • Integrate the company's autonomy products with third-party aircraft and systems.
  • Work with AI, robotics and systems engineering colleagues to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Help shape architecture, code quality, design reviews and best practices.
  • Lead and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Hold a tertiary qualification in computer science, mechatronics, software engineering, aerospace, robotics or a closely related field.
  • Have substantial professional experience in robotics, autonomy, perception or aerospace systems.
  • Have strong experience with modern C++.
  • Have substantial experience building and shipping reliable software, ideally in fast-paced settings.
  • Preferred: prior experience with uncrewed systems, especially in the air domain.
  • Preferred: defence industry experience.
  • Preferred: substantial experience in one or more of state estimation, real-time systems, guidance, navigation and control, or path planning.

Conditions

Equal opportunity applies to all candidates.
