Embedded Software Engineer III

Description

The role sits within the company Bus Solutions and centres on embedded software for a range of products, controls and sensors, covering several major initiatives at once.

You would report to the Engineering Manager or a Supervisor and work alongside peers on design decisions and engineering tasks tied to project goals.

Responsibilities

• Design and build embedded software for systems, controllers and sensors, meeting customer and technical requirements.
• Make design choices that balance performance, cost and ease of manufacture.
• Take part in innovation, patent work or process improvement, and support embedded designs from concept through production launch.
• Join DFMEA sessions and validation planning, and follow APQP and NPD processes so launches go smoothly.
• Lead or support root cause analysis and corrective action for software and electrical faults.
• Assess specifications and performance needs, then deliver cost-effective, scalable and maintainable software for real-time embedded systems.
• Contribute to 8D teams and continuous improvement work.
• Perform other duties outside your function or trade when asked; training is provided where needed.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in computer or software engineering is required; a master's is preferred. The degree should be ABET accredited.
• 6+ years of relevant experience.
• Basic project management skills, and the ability to lead small engineering projects or parts of larger ones.
• Working knowledge of embedded software design for systems and components, including engineering and manufacturing principles, practices and procedures.
• Deep knowledge of embedded architecture and systems, safety standards, performance optimisation and system integration.
• Physical demands: occasionally lift and or move up to 20 pounds; close, distance and peripheral vision and depth perception; frequently reach with hands and arms and talk or hear; occasionally stand, walk, sit, handle or feel objects with the hands, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Conditions

The salary range for this role is $79300-113000. The offer may vary with training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location, and the range may change over time.
