Elastic Stack Engineer

Full-time Elastic Stack engineer role in information technology, based at the DCGS Management Center program at Langley AFB, VA.

You will help maintain and develop the Elasticsearch cluster, keeping its health and status in check and monitoring systems for security.

This is a regular employee position, and TS/SCI clearance is needed to start.

Responsibilities

• Set up, configure, and keep up Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, and Beats.
• Watch Elasticsearch cluster health and performance, and troubleshoot problems as they appear.
• Give technical support that keeps AF DCGS secure, with its data kept confidential, intact, and accessible.
• Build custom Kibana dashboards and visualizations that show trends in the data.
• Administer Linux systems from the command line in depth.
• Set up syslog, audit.d, and Windows audit policies.
• Rebuild servers, handle deployments, and customize parsers.
• Work with common enterprise security devices and tools.
• Write scripts and use configuration management tools such as Ansible and Puppet.
• Track your work in a ticketing system.
• Work across Microsoft and Linux operating systems.

Requirements

• Required: hold a Top Secret/SCI clearance.
• Required: a bachelor's degree in IS technology, computer science, or a related field. The degree can be negotiated if you have equivalent experience.
• Required: at least 5 years of related experience.
• Required: DoD 8140 (8570) IAT Level II, such as Security+ or an equivalent.
• Desired: AF DCGS experience.
• Desired: 4 to 7 years of Linux systems administration experience.
• Desired: knowledge of security best practices and standards, including NIST, ISO, and SOC operations.
• Desired: proficiency with Linux/Unix operating systems and network protocols.
• Desired: experience with SIEM and log management.
• Desired: strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Desired: ability to work alone and as part of a team.
• Desired: strong communication and collaboration skills.

Conditions

Full-time position based at Langley AFB, VA.

Up to 10% travel within the continental US.

The proposed salary range is $75,200-$158,100.

Final pay depends on factors such as location, Federal Government contract labor categories and wage rates, prior relevant experience, skills, education, and certifications.
