Description

Founded in 2014, the company set out to help pets and their owners when care matters most by changing how emergency care works. Its hospitals run nationwide, all open 24/7/365.

The headquarters team supports those hospitals through technology, recruiting and marketing. The company holds 2025 and 2026 Great Place to Work certifications.

This director role builds and leads security operations, strategic intelligence and crisis management across the company. You will define enterprise strategy, standards and how the function works, partnering with headquarters and hospital leaders to turn risk signals into clear decisions.

You will create the systems and partnerships that help teams spot threats early and respond with confidence. The work includes developing people, improving readiness and keeping steady judgment when stakes are high.

5 days a week in office at the headquarters in White Plains.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the global security operations center (GSOC), which runs 24/7/365, directing daily work so incidents and operational disruptions across facilities are detected, assessed, triaged, escalated and resolved quickly.
  • Write the GSOC's operating standards, playbooks, SOPs, escalation protocols and governance, covering incident management, alarms and alerts, global threats, executive protection support, facility security and emergency response.
  • Act as the main escalation point for major events, coordinating with HR, Legal, IT and cyber, Facilities, Communications, Real Estate, Business Continuity and field leaders. Then run after-action reviews and drive the fixes.
  • Oversee enterprise monitoring and executive security, including physical security systems, access control, environmental alerts, threat monitoring for executives on the move, residential alarm support, contract guard activity and site-level events.
  • Build relationships with law enforcement and outside security partners. Coach headquarters and field leaders directly, keep policy and privacy compliance in place, and create training on threat assessment, incident response, customer service and alarm-monitoring standards.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive work in security operations, a GSOC or operations center, crisis or emergency management, intelligence, law enforcement or a related field, including leading managers and teams in a complex, multi-site or 24/7 setting.
  • A track record of writing policies, procedures, escalation protocols and governance standards, with working knowledge of the legal and regulatory issues that affect security, investigations, incident response and information sharing.
  • Investigative, law-enforcement or fusion-center experience is a plus.
  • Strong grounding in open-source intelligence (OSINT), threat assessment, predictive threat modeling and risk forecasting, plus the ability to research, write and edit high-quality reports and executive summaries on your own.
  • Strong executive communication, stakeholder management and networking skills. You can earn trust across internal and external partners and turn complex security needs into practical strategies and program goals.
  • Sound judgment and composure in high-pressure, time-sensitive incidents, and the ability to lead through change while balancing competing priorities.
  • Hands-on experience with security and crisis-management technology.
  • Bachelor's degree in intelligence studies, national security, criminal justice, emergency management, political science, international studies or a related field, or an equivalent mix of education and relevant experience.
  • Available to support critical incidents outside standard business hours and to travel as needed.
  • Empathetic and people-first, supporting colleagues and seeking to understand other viewpoints.
  • Humble: you own your mistakes, share credit and lift up your team's wins.
  • You take ownership of your work and its outcomes, committed to lasting, meaningful results.
  • Curious, asking sharp questions and continually building your skills and knowledge.

Conditions

Base salary of $170,000 - $220,000, depending on experience, plus bonus and benefits.

5 days a week in office at the White Plains headquarters, with free parking and a shuttle from the White Plains Metro-North station.

In-person work is a priority at headquarters, because being on site helps teams connect and deliver.

The company welcomes people from all backgrounds and aims for equitable growth and inclusive decision-making.

Benefits

  • Health and wellness coverage from day one, plus free therapy or counseling.
  • Paid parental leave of up to 12 weeks at 100% of regular salary, and fertility and family-building care open to all family types.
  • Unlimited paid time off for vacation or sick days.
  • A generous employee referral program.
  • Casual office attire, pets welcome at the office, company swag, food stocked in the fridge and free lunch twice a week.
  • Company laptop and a monthly cell phone reimbursement.
