Description

The company connects people worldwide through play and imagination, with games such as Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons and a growing multiverse of products.

The Director of Partnerships & Program Management for the Magic franchise will help deliver Magic's partner projects and build new initiatives that take the franchise into areas such as entertainment.

The role has two main parts: leading and developing the Partner Program Management team, which links the Magic ecosystem with Universes Beyond partners, and running a portfolio of multi-year, cross-functional initiatives that open new opportunities and prepare the franchise for its most ambitious releases.

You will run established programs day to day and also look ahead to what comes next. The work sits between partnership, product, and creative inside a complex, matrixed organization, where you will handle issues that fall outside normal processes and lead by influence and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Magic franchise program management team by supporting your Partner Program Managers on critical issues, final delivery, and partner engagement across the Magic ecosystem.
  • Set the team's working rhythm, remove day-to-day blockers, and manage the expectations of internal and external collaborators and customers.
  • Create best practices that increase the team's impact, and coach and mentor Partner Program Managers to become well-rounded, cross-functional leaders.
  • Manage a portfolio of principal-level initiatives that shape Magic's future, including assessing and helping shape pitches for new Universes Beyond sets.
  • Assemble and lead cross-functional teams that deliver new ideas and special projects.
  • Act as the main partner specialist within the company, coaching teams on engaging partners and communicating with them while moving Magic's franchise goals forward with partners.

Requirements

  • A proven program management leader who has succeeded in ambiguous situations and in complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Strong escalation handling and problem-solving skills, with the judgment to settle difficult issues.
  • A record of coaching, mentoring, and leading senior program managers, and of building high-performing teams through efficient operations and best practices.
  • Strategic vision to find and build new opportunities, plus the creative and editorial judgment to assess pitches.
  • Strong relationship-building and influencing skills, including the ability to move an agenda through informal channels and keep solid ties with partner studios.
  • Deep knowledge of the Magic ecosystem and partner programs, and the insight to spot and grow partner engagement.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, including giving partners clear, concise instructions and feedback.
  • Ability to pull and interpret data from several sources, turn it into a clear story, and draw up practical recommendations.
  • A genuine love of play and the drive to take on more responsibility over time.
  • A BA/BS or equivalent experience is preferred.

Conditions

Base pay range: $189,400 - $295,900 USD. The final offer depends on experience, skills, location, and market conditions.
