Director of Product, Claims Design

Description

The company is Oscar, a health insurer built on its own full stack technology platform, founded in 2012 with a focus on members. The team is Product Management.

This Director of Product role leads the product work behind claims payments, which affect providers, members and the company. Good payments are fast, accurate and easy to understand, and mistakes or confusion cause costly surprises for everyone involved. The company wants its payment experience to be the best in the market, and it sees this role as a chance to bring needed change to healthcare payments, especially for members. The company has a proprietary claims platform and is investing in AI.

Responsibilities

• Set the vision, strategy and roadmap for Claims, finding ways to make payments faster, more accurate and clearer for members and providers, with the aim of setting the standard for the industry.
• Work with your dyad partner in Claims and with leaders in operations, finance, legal and external partners to find opportunities, agree priorities and drive change.
• Hire and grow a strong product team.
• Work closely with Engineering, Data Science and Design to deliver the vision at pace.
• Make organizational and staffing decisions with Engineering, Design and Product leadership, motivate your teams and improve cross-functional processes.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 10+ years of product experience.
• 5+ years of people management experience.
• 3+ years of experience in healthcare payer or provider technology.
• Preferred: subject matter expertise in healthcare billing and claims is a major advantage.
• Preferred: experience developing talent, coaching effectively and building processes that raise performance across product teams.
• Preferred: experience setting clear strategy that contributes meaningfully to the company.
• Preferred: ability to influence and manage stakeholders at all levels of leadership, communicating clearly.
• Preferred: comfort in highly collaborative settings while keeping a drive for results.
• Preferred: strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proven use of data to find opportunities, test ideas and measure success.
• Preferred: process orientation and the ability to assess challenges and build holistic solutions, from top-level goals to small details.

Conditions

Based in the New York City office on a hybrid schedule of 3 office days per week. Thursday is a required office day for team meetings and events; you choose your other two office days.

Base pay is $218,592.00 to $286,902.00 per year. You are also eligible for benefits, Oscar's unlimited vacation program, company equity grants and annual performance bonuses.
