The role is based in Lyon, France, on a hybrid model: 3 days per week onsite and 2 days remote.
English is the working language because the role involves frequent contact with international subsidiaries, so the posting is written in English.
You will define, govern and develop technology solutions for Manufacturing Sciences, Analytics & Technology (MSAT), with a focus on architecture, strategy and roadmaps.
The role does not include hands-on software development or direct implementation.
Data, analytics and AI are key solution areas, but the main goal is sound, scalable and compliant architecture across applications, integrations, cloud platforms, data ecosystems and manufacturing systems.
The team sits within Manufacturing & Supply, which links science and patients by delivering medicines reliably, quickly and affordably. The company is an R&D-driven, AI-powered biopharma company.
The role suits someone who likes setting direction and building long-term digital capability more than day-to-day delivery. Curiosity, adaptability and a readiness to keep learning are expected.
Responsibilities
Define and maintain technology architecture strategies, roadmaps and target-state architectures that support MSAT business goals.
Design end-to-end solutions across applications, integrations, cloud services, data platforms and manufacturing systems.
Turn business, scientific and operational needs into scalable technology solutions.
Lead architecture reviews and technology evaluations to inform strategic decisions.
Set architecture standards, principles, patterns and good practice, and drive platform rationalisation, modernisation and lifecycle management.
Make sure designs are scalable, maintainable and secure, and fit enterprise architecture standards.
Define architecture patterns that enable data, analytics and AI across the MSAT landscape, and support adoption of advanced analytics and AI services.
Work with data scientists, data engineers and analytics teams so solutions stay scalable and sustainable.
Find ways to use digital technology to improve manufacturing performance, process understanding and business decisions.
Ensure data and AI solutions meet governance, compliance and security requirements.
Support MSAT teams with process optimisation, technology transfer, process validation, lifecycle management and continuous improvement.
Help digitise MSAT capabilities, align scientific and business goals with enterprise technology strategy, and improve efficiency, collaboration and data access.
Ensure architecture meets GxP requirements and embed security, compliance, privacy and governance into solution designs.
Support audit and inspection readiness from a digital architecture standpoint, and confirm decisions meet enterprise standards and regulatory expectations.
Act as a trusted adviser to MSAT, manufacturing, quality, data, digital and IT stakeholders, and align business, scientific and technology groups.
Influence strategic technology decisions and foster collaboration between enterprise architecture, solution delivery, digital and business teams.
Explain the architecture vision, roadmaps and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Requirements
Mandatory experience in at least one of: solution architecture, manufacturing IT/OT architecture, cloud architecture, data and analytics architecture, or manufacturing sciences (MSAT).
Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, life sciences or other regulated environments is preferred.
Strong experience in solution architecture and system design, including defining target-state architectures and technology roadmaps.
Ability to design scalable, secure and maintainable enterprise solutions.
Good understanding of integration patterns, APIs and distributed systems, and of data, analytics and AI platforms and the business capabilities they support.
Experience engaging and influencing stakeholders across business and technology, and knowledge of governance, risk and compliance in regulated settings.
Strong communication, facilitation and decision-making skills.
Exposure to several of the following: public cloud (AWS and/or Azure), solution and application architecture, integration platforms, APIs and event-driven architectures, data platforms and analytics ecosystems, enterprise architecture frameworks, manufacturing systems such as MES, Historian, LIMS, ELN and manufacturing data platforms, security architecture and governance, data governance and information management, and IT/OT integration.
Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, and the ability to work across scientific, business, manufacturing and technology teams.
Strategic, systems-level problem solving, and the ability to explain complex technical topics to varied audiences.
Ability to lead without formal authority and to guide decisions.
Curiosity, adaptability and a learning mindset.
Nice to have: TOGAF or equivalent architecture certification, experience with cloud transformation, familiarity with AI governance frameworks, experience with digital transformation in manufacturing, experience supporting global manufacturing organisations, knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing and MSAT operations, and exposure to modern integration technologies and event-driven architectures.
