Description

The company is hiring a full-time database administrator to keep its production databases reliable, highly available and fast.

You will also strengthen disaster recovery and automate database work that critical business systems rely on.

Responsibilities

  • Run and tune production PostgreSQL, MySQL/MariaDB, ClickHouse and Redis databases
  • Keep every database engine highly available, with replication, backups and recovery in place
  • Carry out regular disaster recovery tests that meet backup and recovery compliance controls
  • Improve query speed through indexes, configuration and resource limits
  • Look after ClickHouse analytics setups: replication, query limits and workload isolation
  • Maintain Redis for caching and real-time work, covering persistence, replication and failover
  • Forecast capacity and storage needs as data grows
  • Script database operations as infrastructure-as-code
  • Review schema changes and migrations alongside engineers, and help move databases to the cloud
  • Join the on-call rotation and respond to incidents

Requirements

  • 4+ years working as a DBA or Database Reliability Engineer
  • Significant hands-on experience with Big Data
  • Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL and MySQL/MariaDB, including replication, backup tools and performance tuning
  • Production experience with Redis: persistence, replication, and Sentinel or Cluster
  • Production use of ClickHouse or another columnar database
  • Experience designing high availability and disaster recovery for databases
  • Strong Linux skills and scripting in Bash and Python
  • Experience with database monitoring and alerting
  • Plus: experience with Amazon RDS or Aurora
  • Plus: running databases on Kubernetes with operators
  • Plus: Ansible or Terraform
  • Plus: SOC 2 or similar compliance controls
  • Plus: exposure to trading, fintech or market-data platforms
