Data Test Engineer

Description

You will join the team supporting a large-scale transportation, logistics and finance system for US Transportation Command, built on SAP S/4HANA integrations.

The team needs a data tester to check quality, transformation, migration, interfaces and reconciliation across this SAP build.

Your SQL and database validation skills, along with source-to-target testing and knowledge of enterprise data flows, will confirm that the data is accurate, complete, consistent and reliable.

You will work with developers, data engineers, business analysts, functional teams and product owners in a SAFe Agile setup.

Responsibilities

• Analyse user stories, interface specifications, data mappings, transformation rules and business rules to define data test conditions and acceptance criteria.
• Build data test cases, SQL queries, reconciliation checks, test data sets and expected results for SAP S/4HANA and connected applications.
• Check accuracy, completeness, consistency, integrity, references, formats, transformations and business rule compliance between source and target systems.
• Test extraction, cleansing, transformation, loading, conversion and reconciliation, and confirm migrated data matches approved source-to-target rules.
• Test inbound and outbound data between SAP S/4HANA, SAP Fiori, Mendix applications, interfaces and external systems, including error and exception handling.
• Log data defects with queries, evidence, expected and actual results and steps to reproduce, then follow each one through fix and retest.
• Write and maintain data test plans, test cases, test evidence, traceability records, reconciliation results and data quality reports in line with SAFe practices.
• Work with engineers, developers, analysts, business stakeholders and integration teams to resolve data issues and widen test coverage.
• Take part in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives and other Agile events.
• Suggest better data testing methods, reusable SQL checks, automation, reporting and data quality controls.

Requirements

• Required: Hold an active Secret clearance.
• Required: A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, data analytics, engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Required: At least 5 years of software testing, including at least 2 years of data testing on large enterprise or ERP systems.
• Required: Hands-on work in data validation, ETL/ELT testing, source-to-target reconciliation, data migration or conversion testing and data quality testing.
• Required: Strong SQL for querying, comparing, aggregating, reconciling and troubleshooting data across relational databases.
• Required: Solid working knowledge of SAFe, SDLC and Agile development practices.
• Required: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, clear written and verbal communication, and the ability to work both independently and in a team.
• Desired: Experience with data profiling, ETL tools, APIs, flat files, XML/JSON and data comparison or reconciliation utilities.
• Desired: Experience testing SAP S/4HANA or comparable ERP data, workflows, integrations, interfaces or migration activities.
• Desired: Experience with ServiceNow CWM (Collaborative Work Management) or comparable test management tools.

Conditions

Full-time, regular position with up to 10% travel within the continental US.

Minimum Secret clearance required to start.

The role can be worked from more than one location, so the salary range shown is the national average for the position.

Proposed salary range: $75,200-$158,100.

Final pay depends on factors such as location, Federal Government contract labor category and wage rate, prior experience, skills, education and certifications.
