Data Scientist

Description

The company is hiring a Data Scientist with an active TS/SCI clearance plus polygraph, for one of its major projects in Chantilly, VA.

You will support the customer on requirements for new system capabilities, and on maintaining and extending a bulk data pipeline and enhancements to several applications in the customer's cloud environment.

Responsibilities

• Work with the customer to gather requirements for new system capabilities.
• Extend and maintain the bulk data pipeline.
• Enhance multiple applications within the customer's cloud computing environment.

Requirements

• Hold an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
• Have hands-on experience with big data processing tools such as Spark, PySpark and Python.
• Have experience mapping, extracting, transforming and loading data.
• Have built analytic reports in tools such as CloudWatch and Kibana.
• Have processed and converted OS and data logs into reports and metrics dashboards.
• Have experience with regular expressions (RegEx).
• Have experience with SQL, MySQL and PostgreSQL.
• Have experience processing XML and JSON data files.
• Have experience with IDEs and data modeling through notebooks and Visual Studio.
• Have experience turning structured and unstructured data from different formats into enriched, query-friendly structured data in indexed files.
• Have experience reviewing data extensively and analyzing data quality.
• Have written ETL design documents covering source-to-target mapping and data dictionaries.
• Have worked with customers and integration partners to gather and clarify detailed objectives.
• Have supported Agile development by helping define, scope and review tasks.
• Nice to have: experience deploying capabilities on the Databricks unified analytics platform.
• Nice to have: experience running big data workloads on Elastic MapReduce.
• Nice to have: experience joining multiple complex data sets using Spark.
• Nice to have: experience tuning Spark streaming and batch jobs for cluster utilization and speed.
• Nice to have: experience deploying complex, notebook-based pipelines.
• Nice to have: experience with Python data analysis libraries such as Pandas.
• Nice to have: experience with cloud services such as Lambda, SNS/SQS or EC2.
• Nice to have: experience with DevOps tools including CloudWatch, Lambda, SQS, Dynamo and RDS.
• Nice to have: experience with Elastic, ElasticSearch, Logstash and Kibana (ELK stack).

Conditions

Location: Chantilly, VA.

Pay range in Virginia: $150,000 to $250,000 USD.

Pay depends on factors such as location, federal contract labor category, wage rates, experience, skills, education and certifications.
