Description

The company is pushing to become the dominant pizza company in the world, and reliable data is central to that goal. The team is hiring a Databricks Data Platform Engineer to work at the World Resource Center in Ann Arbor, MI.

The company is a large pizza company, founded in 1960 as a single store in Ypsilanti, Michigan, that now runs more than 22,300 stores across 90+ markets. It is built on its people, technology and franchise system.

Responsibilities

  • Run day-to-day administration of Databricks workspaces, clusters, jobs, runtimes, compute policies, SQL Warehouses and platform configuration.
  • Diagnose and fix production problems such as unstable clusters, failed or slow jobs, performance bottlenecks, connectivity faults, resource shortages and availability gaps.
  • Handle governance and security: Entra ID/AAD groups, service principals, permissions, secrets, Unity Catalog and workspace access.
  • Improve performance and cost through cluster sizing, autoscaling, Photon, workload tuning, compute policies and cloud spend reduction.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automation, job orchestration and Infrastructure-as-Code using tools such as Azure DevOps and Terraform.
  • Work with Data Engineering, DataOps, Infrastructure, Security, DBA and vendor teams to resolve production issues and keep the platform running.
  • Take part in incident management, change and release processes, root cause analysis (RCA) and continuous improvement.
  • Write and keep up operational runbooks, support documentation and standard operating procedures.
  • Own production issues from start to finish, including troubleshooting, resolution and follow-up actions, without needing direct supervision.

Requirements

  • Have 5+ years of hands-on experience administering Azure Databricks and providing L2/L3 production support.
  • Bring strong cloud skills, ideally on Azure, covering networking, storage, identity and access, security, monitoring and Databricks integration.
  • Have a proven record of solving complex production problems in Databricks involving performance, connectivity, availability, jobs and resource limits.
  • Communicate well, take ownership, and solve problems independently through to resolution.
  • Nice to have: hands-on experience administering SQL Server and MongoDB.

Conditions

Work onsite at the Ann Arbor, MI main office 4 days per week.

Equal-opportunity: candidate information is handled confidentially under EEO guidelines.

Benefits

  • Paid holidays and vacation.
  • Medical, dental and vision coverage starting on day one.
  • No-cost mental health support for you and your dependents.
  • Discounts on childcare tuition.
  • No-cost fitness, nutrition and wellness programs.
  • Fertility benefits and adoption assistance.
  • 401k matching contributions.
  • 15% off the purchase price of company stock.
  • Company bonus.
