Description

The company builds electric aircraft, and this team looks after the data and knowledge systems behind that work.

You will help design, deploy and run the data and knowledge infrastructure used across the organization, including cloud-native setups, graph databases and API design.

The work covers the whole path from early design and tool choices through to production operations, done alongside data scientists, platform engineers and domain experts.

The role suits a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving real infrastructure and data problems and wants data to be easier to find, reach and reuse company-wide.

Responsibilities

  • Build and run scalable data platform services that let domain teams manage their own data within one enterprise architecture.
  • Connect data across the product lifecycle, from design to manufacturing to field operations, into one digital thread.
  • Set up and maintain data lakes, warehouses and graph databases so analytics and AI teams can use the data.
  • Extend the enterprise data catalog so people can see what data exists, how it is structured and how it links together.
  • Create fast GraphQL and REST access layers that make complex data simple to query.
  • Deploy, monitor and maintain production data systems on cloud infrastructure for availability, speed and reliability.
  • Build data quality and lineage controls that keep data accurate and traceable, as aerospace compliance requires.
  • Maintain CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code and automated deployments so the platform stays agile and reproducible.
  • Work with cross-functional teams on DataOps and data governance to keep data trusted and well managed.
  • Contribute through code reviews, knowledge sharing and feedback that raise engineering standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, data science or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 3+ years building and shipping data or platform infrastructure in production, owning availability, performance and incident response.
  • Solid software engineering habits: clean code, testing and maintainable systems.
  • Experience provisioning, configuring and running cloud data services in production, preferably on AWS.
  • Experience building or maintaining graph database systems such as Neo4j, Amazon Neptune or Stardog, and designing graph data models.
  • Experience designing and building APIs that other teams or systems rely on, with working knowledge of GraphQL.
  • Proficiency in modern data engineering languages and tools, such as Python and SQL.
  • Experience designing pipelines and data models that ingest and transform diverse sources for several consumers.
  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code and containerized production deployments with tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Strong troubleshooting across the stack, from infrastructure through application layers.
  • Clear communication that makes technical ideas understandable to varied audiences.
  • Above and Beyond: 5+ years building and running production data platforms at scale.
  • Above and Beyond: Semantic technology experience with knowledge graphs, ontology design and standards such as RDF, OWL, SPARQL, SHACL and RML/R2RML.
  • Above and Beyond: Hands-on use of AI-assisted coding tools, such as agentic coding assistants.
  • Above and Beyond: Experience with Spark and/or event-driven or streaming systems such as Kafka or Kinesis.
  • Above and Beyond: Hands-on work with metadata management platforms and enterprise data catalogs.
  • Above and Beyond: Lineage and data quality solutions implemented at scale.
  • Above and Beyond: Monitoring, observability and alerting for production data systems.
  • Above and Beyond: Work in regulated industries or under complex data governance frameworks.
  • Above and Beyond: Familiarity with aerospace or manufacturing data standards and regulations.
  • Above and Beyond: Knowledge of IoT protocols and time-series data management.
