Description

The Enterprise Capabilities team in Bucharest is hiring a Data Engineering Specialist to join the environmental group and a cross-functional digital team that supports environmental projects across the Americas.

The role combines environmental data management with wider digital work. You will run day-to-day support for environmental data systems and also help deliver digital implementations across the business line, so it goes beyond database administration.

Enterprise Capabilities is the company's main route for sharing workload. Its teams work across borders and time zones, supplying technical expertise to regional and global business line projects to speed up delivery.

The wider team has over 3000 technical professionals in 9 countries, plus remote technical anchors. They fill capability, resourcing and technical gaps on projects of every size.

The company is a Fortune 500 firm with $16.1 billion in revenue for fiscal year 2025. It works in water, environment, energy, transportation and buildings, from advisory and planning through design, engineering and construction management.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and support EQuIS environmental data systems, building custom reports and data quality checks.
  • Prepare and reshape environmental data for reports so project teams can rely on it.
  • Connect EQuIS outputs to Power BI dashboards and paginated reports, with dependable data flows from source to visual.
  • Find and fix problems with EQuIS setup, data imports and reports for internal project teams.
  • Build and upkeep Power BI dashboards, covering data models, DAX measures and calculated columns, and report workflow setup.
  • Create print-ready Paginated Reports (RDL) for structured environmental outputs.
  • Write T-SQL for SQL Server reporting workflows, including views, temporary tables and transformation logic.
  • Design and maintain relational data models and database structures that suit reporting and workflow integration.
  • Build workflow automation in Microsoft Power Automate to coordinate project and reporting processes.
  • Build advanced Excel macros and scripts that cut manual compilation and reporting work.
  • Create or configure custom automation in Python, C or similar languages for data management, reporting pipelines and integrations.
  • Spot digitisation opportunities across project teams and deliver repeatable, scalable solutions.
  • Help roll out digital tools across the Environment business line, including onboarding, setup, training materials and hypercare.
  • Share best practice and lessons learned with the wider digital transformation team across the Americas.
  • Work with project teams from the start to pin down digital needs, set up suitable tools and define data flows.
  • Improve tools based on feedback, scope changes and project close-out debriefs.
  • Write clear documentation and user manuals for tools and workflows.
  • Help connect the business line's platforms, including EQuIS, Power BI, Power Automate and related Microsoft tools.
  • Look for new uses for the digital toolkit as the business line's needs change.

Requirements

  • Required:
  • Minimum 2 years in environmental consulting, environmental data systems or related project delivery.
  • Proven EQuIS experience for environmental data management, including report building and data workflows.
  • Hands-on Power BI work covering data modelling, DAX and Paginated Reports (RDL).
  • SQL Server and T-SQL skills for queries, views and data transformation.
  • Working experience with Microsoft Power Automate for workflow or process automation.
  • Advanced Excel, including macro development and automation scripts in VBA and Power Query.
  • Strong organisation, a results focus, and the ability to juggle several priorities at once.
  • Clear communication and a consultative, service-minded approach with internal stakeholders.
  • Python scripting experience, particularly for data management, reporting automation or integration work.
  • Custom development in Python, C or similar languages for tools or integration builds.
  • Relational database design and data model development experience.
  • Strong English communication.
  • Practical problem-solving, a sense of ownership, and a creative, delivery-focused mindset.
  • Preferred / Advantageous:
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Services or cloud data platforms for scalable integration and enterprise reporting.
  • Familiarity with API integrations and system-to-system data pipelines across enterprise tools.
  • Exposure to DevOps practices such as version control and CI/CD for deploying data and reporting solutions.
  • Broader knowledge of environmental consulting workflows, including field data, lab data, regulatory reporting and project lifecycle data needs.
  • Experience leading or supporting tool rollouts, change management and adoption across distributed teams.
  • Experience with Power Apps for lightweight application development.
