Description

The company is one of the world's largest creators, producers and distributors of entertainment, drama, film and documentaries, and sits within RTL Group, a global broadcast, content and digital leader owned by Bertelsmann.

You will join the Social Video team, an established group, as a mid-level Data Engineer.

The role centres on building and tuning the pipelines that bring performance, advertising, platform, audience and content data from many global sources into the company's data environment.

It suits someone with solid hands-on experience who wants to take ownership of larger systems, influence how data is structured and connect insights across a major part of the business.

Your pipelines will feed the Social Video performance dashboards, monetisation insights and viewing metrics, so the business can make quick, well-informed decisions at scale.

The work uses Google BigQuery, dbt, Microsoft Fabric and other modern data tools.

Curiosity about how data shapes TV and film is a good fit.

Responsibilities

  • Bring new advertising, audience, platform and content data from social partners into the central data platform.
  • Own the YouTube and Meta pipelines, including Content ID and CMS reports, so Finance receives complete, reconciled revenue and performance data on time for month-end.
  • Build and run reliable, scalable pipelines that turn raw data into structured datasets ready for analysis, using tools such as BigQuery and dbt.
  • Protect data integrity, governance and security, and raise data quality through validation and testing.
  • Work with the central Data & Analytics team to shape datasets for BI dashboards and reports.
  • Improve pipeline speed, scale and efficiency through version control, code review and iterative delivery.
  • Track pipeline health, data freshness and quality, set up proactive alerts and resolve issues. Write clear documentation so handovers run smoothly.
  • Turn business and analytical needs into data models and technical designs, including handling schema changes and irregular feeds.
  • Automate manual data work to streamline operations.
  • Keep up with modern data engineering practice and share what you learn with the team.

Requirements

  • Proven experience with cloud data platforms such as GCP, Azure, AWS or Snowflake.
  • Strong SQL and Python skills, including complex queries and reusable scripts for transformation, validation, testing and automation.
  • Experience building and managing robust ETL or ELT pipelines with dbt, BigQuery or similar technologies.
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD and collaborative practices such as code review and testing.
  • Hands-on work pulling and integrating data from REST and JSON APIs, handling authentication, pagination, rate limits and changing structures.
  • Solid grasp of data modelling for analytics, reporting and downstream use.
  • Comfortable with large, complex datasets in databases, Excel, CSV, JSON, Parquet and APIs, tuning performance as you go.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a record of diagnosing and fixing complex data issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration, with comfort working alongside analysts, stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Genuine curiosity about how data shapes programming decisions, content performance, audience behaviour and monetisation.
  • Microsoft Fabric experience is a plus.
  • Experience with the YouTube Analytics / Reporting and Meta Graph APIs is an advantage, as is finance-grade data work involving reconciliation, controls and hard deadlines.
  • Experience integrating YouTube and Meta data, or advertising, audience, performance and revenue data, would be advantageous.

Benefits

  • Generous company pension.
  • Summer Fridays.
  • Audience tickets.
  • Access to an employee assistance service.
  • Free courses and training.
  • EV scheme and cycle to work scheme.
  • Season ticket loan.
  • Business coaching sessions.
  • Volunteer days.
