The role sits in the data and analytics capability of the company, which designs, builds and maintains data and analytics solutions for clients in financial services, telco, media and entertainment, retail, manufacturing, gaming, healthcare and other sectors.
Client projects run mainly on Snowflake and Databricks, hosted on Azure, AWS or GCP, and also on on-premises and hybrid environments.
Responsibilities
Assess a client's current data landscape and design target-state architectures for cloud, hybrid or on-prem setups that match their business goals.
Choose technologies according to each client's needs, limits and existing stack, with Snowflake and Databricks as the core platforms.
Design lakehouse, warehouse and data lake architectures covering ingestion, ETL and ELT pipelines, CDC, streaming and API integrations.
Create conceptual, logical and physical data models using Kimball, Data Vault or 3NF, plus semantic layers for BI and AI.
Set up security (IAM, encryption, masking, row-level security), HA and DR, and optimise performance and cost.
Build governance foundations: catalog, metadata, lineage, data quality and data contracts.
Make sure platforms can support advanced analytics, ML, GenAI and real-time use cases.
Produce reference architectures, reusable patterns and accelerators for the company's Data and AI offering.
Act as the technical authority for delivery teams by reviewing designs and keeping quality consistent across projects.
Support sales and industry teams as the technical presales lead: run discovery workshops, shape solution designs, prepare estimates and write the technical sections of proposals and RFPs.
Present architectures and recommendations to client audiences, from engineering teams up to C-level executives.
Design and run proof-of-concept projects and technical demos.
Research new approaches and tools such as data mesh, streaming-first and AI-native platforms, and share findings inside and outside the company.
Requirements
At least 7 years in data engineering or data architecture, including at least 3 years working as an architect.
Hands-on delivery on Snowflake and Databricks (Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Spark), with expert knowledge of one and working knowledge of the other.
Experience with at least one major cloud (Azure, AWS or GCP) and its data services.
Strong data modelling skills in Kimball, Data Vault and 3NF.
Strong SQL and solid Python.
Experience with orchestration and transformation tools such as Airflow, dbt or Azure Data Factory.

Nice to have: semantic layers and knowledge graphs, such as the dbt Semantic Layer, ontologies or RDF/OWL.
Nice to have: domain experience in one of the company's verticals (BFSI, telco, retail/manufacturing, gaming and betting, healthcare, media).
Nice to have: previous presales or solution consulting experience.
