Description

The threat management team is made up of cybersecurity specialists who prevent attacks by detecting and responding to threats. Their core areas are incident response, threat hunting, threat intelligence, security monitoring, vulnerability management, engineering and consulting.

The manager has over 10 years of experience running managed security services, building and operating security operations centres, and working in threat hunting, threat intelligence and vulnerability management. They also lead teams, manage projects, design services, build training plans and coach staff. Outside work they teach a university course on surveillance systems and forensic analysis.

This is a newly formed threat detection and response delivery team in a growing practice. The role carries real ownership and visibility with senior security stakeholders, and strong delivery and business growth can lead to a Senior Manager or Director role. It is a technical leadership role, not a pure project management one.

Responsibilities

  • Lead client engagements from start to finish, handling scope, priorities, escalations and delivery quality.
  • Be the main client contact for security leadership and management.
  • Run executive and technical workshops and present results to C-level and CISO stakeholders.
  • Provide hands-on work in SIEM, threat hunting, incident response and detection engineering, stepping into delivery when needed.
  • Review technical output and advise on architecture for detection and response, including SIEM design, log management and use case frameworks.
  • Track the threat landscape and turn what you find into recommendations for clients.
  • Mentor senior associates in both their technical and professional growth.
  • Drive business development through presales, proposals, pricing, estimation and resource planning.
  • Define and scale service offerings, delivery frameworks, reusable assets and cross-practice collaboration.
  • Client delivery makes up about 35% of the role, technical contribution about 30%, and business development, mentoring and service development about 35%.

Requirements

  • 6 to 10+ years of cybersecurity experience, including at least 2 years in consulting, professional services or a role with client responsibility.
  • Hands-on experience in at least two of these areas: SIEM (preferably Splunk), threat hunting, incident response and detection engineering.
  • A record of leading projects, work packages or delivery streams.
  • Can explain issues to security leadership and management in both technical and business terms.
  • Experience mentoring junior and mid-level team members.
  • English at a working level, C1.
  • Can break complex problems into parts and propose practical solutions.
  • Experience preparing proposals, estimating effort and defining scope.
  • Would help you stand out: experience building or significantly developing a security team or practice.
  • Would help you stand out: Microsoft Sentinel, and cloud security on Azure or AWS at an architectural level.
  • Would help you stand out: SOAR implementation or automation of detection and response processes.
  • Would help you stand out: certifications such as GIAC GCIH, GCIA or GCDA, CISSP, CISM or Splunk certifications.
  • Would help you stand out: MITRE ATT&CK, threat modelling, or red or purple teaming concepts.
  • Would help you stand out: previous work at a Big4 firm, a boutique cyber consultancy or an MSSP.
  • Advantage: Czech language skills.
