Description

The company is a Fortune 100 firm with nearly $70 billion in annual sales, and this role sits in its Cyber Security Operations Center Innovation and Integration team (CSOC-INI).

The team turns early ideas into secure, production-ready capabilities that strengthen cyber defense. Its work spans agentic solutions, modern application engineering, platform foundations and security data engineering, turning complex operational needs into scalable, observable outcomes.

You will help define how agentic AI is used in cyber security at enterprise scale. You will build production-ready solutions that combine LLM platforms, agent frameworks, enterprise data and secure workflow orchestration to solve real Security Operations problems, and you will help shape the operating model for AI-enabled cyber defense.

The role is hybrid: you work in the office 2 days per week, on Mondays and Wednesdays, at the Columbus, Ohio, Des Moines, Iowa, or Scottsdale, Arizona office. Remote internal associates may also be considered.

The wider Cyber Operations group protects members and data on the front line, handling incident response, cyber strategy and guidance, defense optimization, and scanning and exploitation. It provides enterprise services in forensic investigation, attack and penetration, vulnerability scanning and response, cyber defense, security intelligence, security operations and infrastructure risk management.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and operate agentic cyber security solutions using approved models, agent frameworks, enterprise data sources and tool integrations.
  • Own agent behavior, orchestration, prompt and context patterns, retrieval design, evaluation strategy and workflow implementation.
  • Work with cyber security, platform and operations engineers to keep solutions valuable, secure, observable, governed and production-ready.
  • Lead or respond to complex cyber incidents using PICERL (Preparation, Identification, Containment, Eradication, Recovery and Lessons Learned), or another recognised method.
  • Design and implement automation and orchestration that enriches and handles cyber security events, with a focus on efficient incident response.
  • Identify critical log sources and system events, and use them to create and tune cyber security detections.
  • Strengthen detection and prevention controls and raise the level of alerts to stop threats before they spread.
  • Manage vulnerability management through tools and processes, and find weaknesses in the environment before attackers do.
  • Plan and run proactive cyber activities such as purple teaming, threat hunting and red teaming, with full understanding of the MITRE ATT&CK framework.
  • Track the current threat landscape, evaluate and enrich what you find, and pass it on so the team can act to protect members and the environment.
  • Apply secure software and systems engineering practices across the delivery lifecycle to protect data and technology solutions.
  • Lead and contribute to initiatives that support the overall cyber operations strategy.
  • Take on other duties as assigned.
  • Build production-grade agent workflows, tools and orchestration logic.
  • Choose suitable models, prompts, context windows and memory patterns for each use case.
  • Implement retrieval and enterprise data access that is trustworthy and easy to maintain.
  • Design human-in-the-loop steps, exception paths and quality controls.
  • Define and run evaluation plans covering quality, safety and regression detection.
  • Add the right telemetry to the solution, working with platform engineering.
  • Fix defects quickly and support production troubleshooting when the solution logic is involved.
  • Keep improving solution quality, reusability and business value over time.

Requirements

  • Strong software engineering skills, ideally advanced Python, plus working ability in Java and TypeScript used across the stack.
  • Experience building LLM-powered or agentic applications, including evaluation design.
  • Strong skills in prompt, context and tool-integration design.
  • Experience with harness design, retrieval patterns, search, memory and knowledge grounding.
  • Experience integrating APIs, files, enterprise data and workflow systems.
  • Ability to turn business processes into deterministic and agent-assisted workflows.
  • Working knowledge of secure design, testing, evaluation and release practices.
  • Ability to work with architecture, security, platform and Cyber Security Operations stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work with all levels of staff, senior management and vendors.
  • Six years of experience in technology, including four years in cyber security.
  • Experience with Windows and Linux/Unix operating systems, administration and tools.
  • Experience with network configurations, protocols, network security, firewalls and network topology, both physical and logical.
  • Experience with web application security.
  • Scripting experience in PowerShell, Python, Bash and Windows Batch.
  • Ability to make decisions and recommendations and manage work processes.
  • Ability to influence others, build partnerships and set priorities.
  • Security Operations experience preferred.
  • Undergraduate studies in cyber security, management information systems, engineering, math, computer science, data analytics or comparable experience and education strongly preferred.
  • Graduate studies in cyber security, computer science or a related field are a plus.
  • Preferred certifications: CISSP, CCNA, CEH, GCIH, EnCE, GSTRT, GSE, CCSP, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner and AZ500.
  • Insurance and/or financial services industry knowledge a plus.
  • Leadership skills, competencies and experience may outweigh the listed criteria.
