Description

Introduction

At the company’s Delft office, we are developing a multi-beam electron microscope used to inspect semiconductor wafers during production. As part of the development process, we continuously collect and analyze data from multiple systems operating under a wide range of conditions. Storing this data in a structured, reliable, and future-proof way, while making it easily accessible for querying, analysis, performance tracking, and reporting, is essential to our work. This internship focuses on developing a data platform that supports these activities and helps engineers gain valuable insights from complex datasets. You will contribute to a solution with a direct impact on the development of advanced semiconductor technology.

Your assignment

As an intern, you will work with our design team to develop a data platform for measurement and performance data. You will investigate the data generated by our systems and determine how it can best be structured, stored, and accessed to support current and future querying, analysis, performance tracking, and reporting needs. You will have the opportunity to design and implement the solution from the ground up, with the freedom to explore suitable technologies and approaches that best support our engineering needs.

Your main responsibilities will be:

Analyze measurement and performance data generated by our systems;

Define an effective structure for storing and organizing data;

Explore suitable data-storage technologies and database architectures;

Design and implement a scalable data platform and database solution;

Enable efficient querying and access to data for analysis and reporting;

Support the use of measurement and performance data to monitor system performance over time;

Collaborate with engineers to ensure the solution meets current and future requirements.

This is a master thesis or non-thesis internship for minimum 5 months, 5 days per week (2 days on-site). The start date of this internship is as of February or March 2027.

Your profile

To be suitable for the internship, you:

Are currently enrolled in a master's degree program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field;

Have completed a bachelor's degree and are continuing your studies in a master's degree program;

Have experience with Python programming;

Have an interest in databases, data engineering, and data management;

Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills;

Are collaborative and proactive in a multidisciplinary environment;

Are curious and eager to contribute to complex and impactful technology projects.

Other requirements you need to meet:

You are enrolled at an educational institute for the entire duration of the internship, and you are at least 18 years old at the start of the internship;

If you are a non-EU citizen, studying in the Netherlands, your university is willing to sign the documents relevant for doing an internship (i.e., Nuffic agreement);
