Cloud Software Engineer (Level 2) - AHT

Description

The company's Space Sector is hiring a Cloud Software Engineer (Level 2) to work in the Western Region Software Engineering Directorate.

The directorate has over 800 engineers, including software, DevOps, database and network engineers, at every career stage from early-career to senior chief engineers and architects.

Teams work across programs, and there are routes into more senior technical or leadership roles.

The role is contingent on customer and/or business funding.

Responsibilities

• Design, architect and build cloud software for space ground systems and operations, including detailed software models and design documents.
• Write and maintain software in languages such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java or C++.
• Build, deploy and maintain RESTful APIs that support mission and business functions.
• Use CI/CD, Git and automated testing to deliver reliable software.
• Work through complex technical problems quickly.
• Prepare charts and data, and give recommendations to internal teams, program leads and external customers.
• Manage your own tasks and priorities against tight deadlines in a fast-moving environment.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in a STEM field plus 2+ years of software work, or a master's degree in a STEM field.
• Ability and willingness to obtain and keep a DoD Secret clearance within a timeframe the company sets.
• Experience designing and building applications on AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, EC2, S3 and IAM.
• Skill in at least one modern language such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java or C++.
• Experience building and deploying RESTful APIs.
• Basic knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Git and automated testing.
• Preferred: an active U.S. Government Secret clearance.
• Preferred: experience designing event-driven and/or serverless architectures on AWS.
• Preferred: familiarity with AWS security practices such as IAM, KMS, resource policies and VPC.
• Preferred: experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as CloudFormation, CDK, Terraform or similar.
• Preferred: experience combining several AWS services into one working solution.
• Preferred: experience with API Gateway, including HTTP/REST APIs, endpoint security and custom authorizers.
• Preferred: familiarity with ground segment, mission operations and secure communications.

Conditions

The role is onsite in Redondo Beach, CA.

Travel is about 10% of the time.

No clearance is needed to start, and relocation assistance may be available.

The base salary range for the primary level is $91,800.00 - $137,600.00. Final pay depends on scope, responsibilities, your experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
