Cloud Networking Senior Engineer

Description

The company is building and evolving next-generation cloud infrastructure, and this Cloud Software Developer role centres on cloud-native systems and networking.

You would help build and improve the company's cloud platform alongside a team working on distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Build, extend, and maintain cloud-native components for the company's cloud platform.
• Develop and improve Kubernetes networking features, such as CNI plugins and multi-network configurations.
• Support and enhance high-performance networking, including SR-IOV and related technologies.
• Help implement Precision Time Protocol (PTP) features for workloads that depend on precise timing.
• Troubleshoot and debug problems across distributed systems, including the networking and infrastructure layers.
• Work with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, reliable solutions.
• Contribute to the open-source StarlingX community.
• Write clean, maintainable, testable code, including unit and integration tests.
• Take part in code reviews, design discussions, and ongoing improvements to engineering practices.

Requirements

• A bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience building software for distributed or cloud-native systems.
• Strong skills in Python, C/C++, and/or Go, with experience building backend or infrastructure components.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (K8s) and container platforms such as Docker.
• Experience developing or supporting Kubernetes networking, including CNI plugins such as Calico.
• A strong understanding of Linux networking, including TCP/IP, routing, VLANs, bridging, and bonding.
• Familiarity with high-performance networking such as SR-IOV, or a willingness to learn it.
• Familiarity with PTP or other time synchronization technologies is a plus.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot or ChatGPT, to work more productively.
• Strong problem-solving skills, especially for complex system-level issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work well in team settings.
• Self-motivated, quick to learn, and eager to master new technologies.

Conditions

Hybrid work model.

Salary range of $95,000 to $120,000 CAD per year, plus an annual incentive plan bonus.

Pay is set through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, along with equity with other team members.
