Description

The company is an AI platform business that helps regulated financial institutions redesign, govern and run their critical work. Its technology lets these organizations move faster while keeping the governance, accountability and control that regulated settings demand.

The product line includes an agent orchestration platform for governed AI work, a banking platform covering product, pricing, offers, billing, loyalty and relationship management, and an integration platform that links data, systems and workflows across complex enterprises.

The company is headquartered in Toronto, Canada, and works with financial institutions in North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific.

This is a Principal Azure Platform & Cloud Operations Architect role. You will work hands-on to improve how the company runs its critical production systems on Azure. That means reviewing current cloud operations processes and platform architecture, finding chances to automate and improve, and putting in operating patterns that make reliability, scalability and delivery more dependable.

You will also be the senior subject matter expert for hard technical blockers, mainly around AKS, Azure networking and deployment workflows. You will help the team resolve these issues while building more mature, repeatable ways of working.

Responsibilities

  • Review current workflows for provisioning, deployments, incident response and change management. Add automation, process changes and operational guardrails that cut manual effort and raise reliability.
  • Own the architecture and operational maturity of AKS environments, covering cluster topology, node pools, upgrades, scaling, resiliency, ingress and egress, workload identity, secrets management and runtime security.
  • Apply deep Azure networking and secure connectivity knowledge, including VNET design, routing and UDRs, NSGs, DNS, private endpoints, firewalls, load balancers, gateways and secure ingress and egress.
  • Investigate complex network and performance problems affecting production across AKS, Azure networking and application layers.
  • Build infrastructure as code in Terraform using reusable modules, clear lifecycle management, consistent environments and safe change practices.
  • Mature deployments with Argo CD and Helm, improving repeatability, release confidence, environment promotion and rollback.
  • Upgrade CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps, Jenkins or GitHub Actions with quality gates, validation, security scanning and automated delivery to production.
  • Improve monitoring, logging, alerting and dashboards with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics and Application Insights. Aim for actionable signals, less noise and stronger incident response.
  • Drive production readiness through runbooks, readiness reviews, operational checklists and ongoing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Serve as the L3/L4 escalation point for high-severity incidents. Guide triage and recovery, lead root cause analysis and make sure fixes land as automation or platform improvements.
  • Coach and unblock Cloud Operations engineers on complex problems, and set consistent engineering standards across the team.
  • Work with Engineering, SRE, Security and Delivery to align operating patterns, platform guardrails and readiness expectations across services and environments.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering or a related field, plus 8+ years of hands-on work in cloud platform engineering, DevOps/SRE or cloud operations.
  • A record of owning production-grade systems and working well in complex, high-availability environments.
  • Strong hands-on Azure experience, especially with Azure Kubernetes Service, and deep experience running Kubernetes in production, including upgrades, scaling, failure modes and troubleshooting.
  • Deep Azure networking and secure connectivity expertise, with the ability to diagnose multi-layer issues across AKS, networking and application boundaries.
  • Proven hands-on Terraform experience, including modules, state strategy, environment consistency and safe rollouts.
  • Strong GitOps and deployment tooling experience with Argo CD and Helm, plus a solid grasp of release strategies and operational controls.
  • Proficiency running CI/CD and automation on Azure Pipelines, Jenkins or GitHub Actions, with a focus on deployment reliability through automated checks and gates.
  • Hands-on use of Azure Monitor, Log Analytics and Application Insights to improve service health visibility and incident response.
  • Scripting skill in Python, Bash or PowerShell to build operational tooling and reduce repetitive work.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, staying calm under pressure and guiding teams through critical production incidents.
  • Preferred: Microsoft certifications (for example Azure Solutions Architect Expert) and/or Kubernetes certifications (CKA/CKS).
  • Preferred: experience building golden path templates or self-service workflows, exposure to SRE practices, and exposure to Azure cost optimization or FinOps.
