Description

The company offers edge-to-cloud technology that helps customers connect, protect, and analyze their data and applications.

You will join a team that runs secure, mission-critical private-cloud infrastructure, where network uptime, resilience, and security support essential customer operations.

The work is hands-on. You will solve hard engineering problems, strengthen a highly regulated environment, and help shape how advanced cloud and network services run at scale.

Success in this role means keeping network services reliable and secure, restoring service quickly after incidents, making production changes accurately with clear documentation, and building customer confidence through ownership and follow-through.

Responsibilities

  • Run and fix LAN, WAN, datacenter, and disconnected-cloud networks in both classified and non-classified environments, covering switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, DNS/IPAM, and network management tools.
  • Diagnose complex connectivity, routing, policy, performance, and application delivery faults using packet captures, monitoring data, logs, and a structured approach.
  • Carry out approved network and security changes in ServiceNow, such as firewall rules, access controls, load-balancing profiles, routing, and DNS edits, and keep incident, request, problem, and knowledge records current.
  • Support and troubleshoot VMware NSX tenant networking and secure private-cloud links, including tenant segments, routing, security policies, and connections into the cloud.
  • Work with cloud, virtualization, systems, security, architecture, and application teams on tenant onboarding, workload moves, technology refreshes, continuity tests, disaster recovery, and production rollouts.
  • Turn approved architecture into diagrams, low-level designs, implementation and test plans, operating procedures, troubleshooting guides, and training material for out-of-band access, IPsec, NAT, segmentation, and customer integration.
  • Watch service health, spot recurring risks, and improve reliability through automation, standard builds, knowledge sharing, and problem management.
  • Lead technical discussions with customers and internal teams, report status, risks, dependencies, and recovery steps, find ownership or design gaps, and push fixes through engineering, security, and governance channels.
  • Review network and NSX STIG checklists, record findings, apply approved hardening, and keep audit-ready evidence through change management.
  • Join the on-call rotation and cover evenings or weekends when mission needs call for it.

Requirements

  • Be a U.S. citizen and hold an active DoD Secret clearance when you apply, and be able to keep the clearance and obtain customer-specific access.
  • Hold a DoD 8140-compliant baseline certification, such as CompTIA Security+ or a higher approved certification, by your start date.
  • Have a bachelor's degree in computer science, network engineering, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical technical experience.
  • Have 7+ years of progressive network engineering or operations experience, with hands-on responsibility for complex enterprise, datacenter, private-cloud, or federal environments.
  • Have hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, TCP/IP, VLANs, ACLs, DNS, DHCP, NAT, VPNs, BGP, and OSPF.
  • Have experience supporting SDN or VMware NSX, including tenant connectivity, segmentation, routing, and security-policy troubleshooting.
  • Have hands-on experience with enterprise switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, DNS/IPAM, monitoring, and packet analysis tools.
  • Have experience with secure or regulated infrastructure, including Zero Trust, hardening, STIG/SRG implementation, CKL review, vulnerability remediation, Tenable or ACAS validation, segmentation, access control, evidence collection, and RMF/ATO documentation.
  • Communicate clearly and judge situations well, and work independently through ServiceNow-based incident, request, change, problem, knowledge, CMDB, CAB, and escalation processes while working with customers and engineers.
  • Preferred: experience with Juniper, Palo Alto, Infoblox, OpsRamp, NetScout, Splunk, Wireshark, or comparable products.
  • Preferred: experience supporting Department of Defense or other federal mission environments, including classified and non-classified networks, disconnected or air-gapped operations, Government-Furnished Equipment access, and controlled transfer or sanitization of operational data and evidence.
  • Preferred: experience with SCCA, disconnected or air-gapped private cloud, hybrid-cloud connectivity, tenant onboarding, multi-tenant routing and segmentation, and integration with tools such as ServiceNow, OpsRamp, Elastic, Tenable, Cohesity, Morpheus, and identity services.
  • Preferred: advanced experience with VMware NSX-T and Juniper routing and switching, plus Palo Alto, Infoblox or BlueCat DDI, Cisco or Aruba, VRFs, EVPN/VXLAN, IPv4/IPv6, IPsec, policy-based routing, and high-availability design.
  • Preferred: familiarity with network automation, configuration validation, and repeatable workflows using Ansible, Python, PowerShell, Bash, Terraform, APIs, version control, or similar tools.
  • Preferred: working knowledge of VMware, Windows Server, Active Directory, PKI, Linux/UNIX, and related infrastructure.
  • Preferred: AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, a relevant network-vendor certification, a cloud certification, or an advanced cybersecurity credential.
  • Preferred: experience leading troubleshooting sessions, mentoring engineers, creating training content, or coordinating work across mission partners.
