CDM Principal Designer

Description

The role sits in the national environment and energy safety, health and environment (SH&E) team and can be based at any main office: Manchester, Basingstoke, Glasgow, Cambridge or Bristol.

You will work alongside the GGP CDM Lead to build positive engagement, give support, advice and guidance, and share CDM knowledge across projects.

The work is Principal Designer services on some of the largest energy infrastructure projects in the UK, with internal teams and clients.

Responsibilities

• Act as a visible advocate for health, including wellbeing, safety and the environment, and push for ongoing improvement and new ideas to build a mature safety culture in line with company policies, procedures and SH&E strategy.
• Lead the pre-construction phase, manage risk, improve communication and cooperation, and oversee the handover from design to construction, including preparing health and safety files.
• Check that every task and deliverable in your scope adds value and meets a high standard, and keep improving methods, processes and results.
• Give CDM advice and support to energy project staff and clients so the company and its clients meet their statutory duties, and raise legal gaps professionally.
• Work with colleagues and managers as one team, showing respect, support and cooperation to reach shared goals.
• Check that teams follow procedures and process requirements in your area to improve compliance.
• Help promote the company's safety principles (Safety for Life, Culture of Caring and Life Preserving) to keep the workplace safe, healthy and secure.

Requirements

• A design or engineering degree.
• Experience with overhead lines and high voltage (HV) projects.
• Membership of the Association of Project Safety.
• A NEBOSH National or General Certificate, or a similar health and safety qualification.
• Experience delivering the Principal Designer role, managing CDM duties effectively and efficiently on energy projects.
