Description

The company supplies data and intelligence infrastructure to capital markets, turning fragmented data, operations and workflows into decision-grade intelligence.

Its clients are leading institutional investors, asset managers and service providers, who use it to make investment decisions across more than US$75 trillion in AUM each year.

You will be a BI Developer responsible for the Microsoft Fabric platform behind the company's internal reporting. The platform combines data from several systems and feeds the Power BI reports used across the business.

You will report to the Head of BI. The work centres on making the platform more robust, moving older pipelines onto the layered architecture, and keeping the semantic models healthy. Once those foundations are in place, you will help the team move toward AI-mediated development, with more pipelines built by AI.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain the dataflows, pipelines and lakehouses behind the platform, and add the new sources and fields stakeholders need.
  • Harden the Power Query (M) that loads data from REST APIs, adding reliable pagination, retries and incremental loads so that failures are caught before they reach downstream.
  • Run scheduled refreshes and pipelines, trace failures to their root cause and fix them, and add alerting and data-quality checks.
  • Move credentials into managed connections and secret storage, and manage workspace access and row-level security.
  • Keep the Power BI semantic models working as the data layer changes by fixing refreshes, repointing sources, and maintaining DAX measures and relationships.
  • Move older pipelines onto the layered architecture, replace duplicated logic with shared components, and retire anything no longer needed.
  • Introduce source control, deployment pipelines and separate development and production environments.
  • Write runbooks and design notes so anyone on the team can support the platform.
  • Move transformation logic into SQL and Python in Fabric notebooks where that makes the platform easier to maintain.
  • Use AI tools in your daily work, and build the standards, templates and checks that let AI build and change pipelines safely.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years in BI development or data engineering, mostly on Microsoft data platforms.
  • Experience supporting production pipelines and semantic models, including fixing failures at their root cause.
  • Experience taking over and improving solutions built by others.
  • A methodical, ownership-minded approach and clear communication.
  • A genuine interest in AI-assisted development and where it adds the most value.
  • Hands-on work with Microsoft Fabric, including Dataflow Gen2, Data Pipelines, Lakehouses and OneLake.
  • Strong Power Query (M), with the ability to debug and optimise complex queries written by others.
  • Working knowledge of REST APIs, including pagination, rate limits, OAuth and token authentication, and incremental loads.
  • Semantic models and DAX: star schemas, relationships, storage modes and row-level security, plus good DAX filter context and iterator skills to read, fix and extend measures.

Conditions

The company is committed to diversity and inclusion across recruitment, retention, progression and development, regardless of background or circumstances.
