Description

You will join a large data migration programme for an international software provider in a regulated, audited sector. The work is moving millions of records from a legacy system into a modern Azure estate.

You will sit in a small, senior delivery team next to the client's own engineering squads and work directly with the client's technical leadership. Reconciliation standards are strict and you will be personally accountable for data integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and run ETL pipelines that move data from legacy SQL Server databases into Azure SQL.
  • Profile source schemas and reverse-engineer them where documentation is incomplete, then document the reconstructed model.
  • Build validation and reconciliation logic that shows completeness and correctness before the initial load and before every delta load.
  • Work with the Business Analyst on data mapping, transformation rules and the agreed data dictionary.
  • Run migration rehearsals and support the cutover.
  • Apply ITIL-aligned change and release management to every production change.
  • Investigate and fix production data incidents, and take part in root cause analysis and lasting fixes.
  • Write and maintain technical documentation for the migration components and hand it over when the engagement ends.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of data migration or ETL development on enterprise or high-stakes systems.
  • Strong T-SQL and hands-on work with Microsoft SQL Server, including SSIS.
  • Practical experience with Azure SQL Database and related Azure data services such as Data Factory and Azure DevOps.
  • Proven data validation and reconciliation work, with the ability to explain how you showed a migration was correct, not just that it ran.
  • Ability to work from incomplete documentation, starting with schema discovery and data profiling.
  • Experience handling JSON and XML stored inside relational tables.
  • English at C1 level or above, with daily contact with international stakeholders.
  • Microsoft certification is a plus, ideally DP-203 Azure Data Engineer Associate.
  • ITIL Foundation v4 is a plus, or willingness to certify at the company's expense.
  • Experience in a regulated, audited sector such as financial services, public sector or healthcare is a plus.
  • Experience with change data capture and keeping systems in sync during a parallel run is a plus.
  • Exposure to Databricks, Snowflake or dbt is a plus.

Conditions

Flexible and remote working options are available.

Equal opportunity applies; the company welcomes all candidates.

Benefits

  • Travel linked to international projects.
  • Access to language classes, knowledge-sharing initiatives, private healthcare, life insurance and a multisport card.
  • Work on international projects with leading global clients in a non-corporate atmosphere.
  • Availability and terms of individual benefits may vary depending on the chosen form of cooperation.
