Automation Engineer

Description

This role focuses on substation automation that keeps critical infrastructure running reliably, using IEC 61850 and MicroSCADA to support secure and efficient energy systems for communities.

You will work alongside industry specialists and stakeholders around the world on projects that shape electrification.

Responsibilities

• Configure substation automation systems in MicroSCADA, from design through setup.
• Set up communication architectures using IEC 61850, Modbus and DNP3.
• Build HMI screens and RTU logic for real-time monitoring and control.
• Work with project teams to deliver on schedule and to a high standard.
• Support FAT, SAT and commissioning, both on site and remotely.
• Find and fix faults, and tune systems for maximum reliability.
• Talk with customers to refine designs and improve system functions.
• Help improve processes and bring new technologies into use.
• Make sure work complies with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures and guidelines.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, automation or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in substation automation or industrial control systems.
• Hands-on experience configuring and deploying MicroSCADA.
• Solid knowledge of IEC 61850 and related communication protocols.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity standards for automation systems.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• You must already hold work authorization that allows you to work for the company in the United States.
