Description

The company builds reliable, interpretable and steerable AI systems, aiming for AI that is safe and useful for users and for society.

The team is growing quickly and includes researchers, engineers, policy experts and business leaders.

This is a pre-sales architect role on the applied AI team, based in Australia. You will be a trusted technical adviser to large enterprises in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region, showing them what Claude can do for their business and how it can fit into their technology stack.

You will combine deep technical skill with customer-facing work to design LLM solutions for hard business problems, held to the company's standards for safety and reliability. Working with sales, product and engineering, you will take customers from first technical discovery through to a successful deployment, helping them understand Claude's capabilities, build evals and design architectures that scale.

Responsibilities

  • Work with account executives to understand customer needs in depth and turn them into technical solutions that match business goals.
  • Act as the main technical adviser for enterprise customers from discovery and initial evaluation through to deployment, coordinating across internal teams and stakeholders to get good customer outcomes.
  • Help customers build on the Claude API and Claude for Work.
  • Design and present technical material for every audience, from deep dives for engineers and developers to business value discussions for executives.
  • Advise on architecture choices and help customers fit Claude into their current technology stack.
  • Help customers create evaluation frameworks that measure how Claude performs on their own use cases.
  • Spot common integration patterns and pass those insights to the product and engineering teams.
  • Travel now and then within Australia and the APAC region to visit customer sites for workshops, technical deep dives and relationship building.
  • Keep up with the latest changes in LLM capabilities and implementation patterns.
  • Work across time zones with global teams, serving as the technical expert for the Australian market.

Requirements

  • Have 10+ years in technical customer-facing roles such as Solutions Architect, Sales Engineer or Technical Account Manager.
  • Have worked with enterprise customers in Australia or the APAC region through complex buying cycles with several stakeholders.
  • Can build relationships and explain technical ideas clearly to audiences from C-suite executives to engineering and IT teams.
  • Can translate customer requirements between technical and business stakeholders.
  • Have designed scalable cloud architectures and integrated them with enterprise systems.
  • Are comfortable with Python.
  • Know common LLM frameworks and tools, or have a background in machine learning or data science.
  • Enjoy cross-organizational collaboration, working through trade-offs and balancing competing priorities.
  • Enjoy teaching, mentoring and helping others succeed.
  • Communicate well with people and make complicated topics easy to follow for external and internal audiences.
  • Care about using technology safely and beneficially, and about advancing safe AI systems.
  • Can work effectively across cultures and time zones within a global team.
  • Hold at minimum a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent mix of education, training and/or experience.
  • Have a field of study relevant to the role, shown through coursework, training or professional experience.
  • The required years of experience match the internal job level for the position.
