Applications Development Programmer Analyst - C12

Description

This intermediate-level role on the Technology team helps set up and roll out new application systems and programs, and revise existing ones.

The work centres on applications systems analysis and programming, with automation and process simplification as the main focus.

The role sits in the Applications Development job family within the Technology group.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain Java applications that are reliable, scalable and efficient, using a Spring Boot microservice architecture.
• Create REST and asynchronous messaging links between services, with fault tolerance built in.
• Develop cloud-native services using Spring Cloud parts such as configuration, discovery, gateway and circuit breakers where they fit.
• Build event-driven parts of the system on Kafka for async communication, event streaming and decoupled processing.
• Apply solid knowledge of Java Collections, concurrency and multithreading to keep systems safe and fast.
• Profile and tune services for latency, throughput and memory use, including GC tuning when needed.
• Write clean, well-documented code that follows best practice and coding standards.
• Work with product managers, architects and developers to turn requirements into technical designs for microservices.
• Take part in every stage of the microservice lifecycle, from analysis through design, build, testing and release.
• Debug, troubleshoot and upgrade existing microservices and monolithic systems as part of a migration plan.
• Take on other duties as the role requires.

Requirements

• Have 5-8 years of relevant experience.
• Have hands-on experience analysing systems and programming software applications.
• Have experience managing and delivering projects successfully.
• Have working knowledge of consulting and project management techniques and methods.
• Work well under pressure, managing deadlines and shifting expectations or requirements.
• Hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Have 3-6 years of professional Java development, with strong skill in Java (JDK 8 or later).
• Have designed, built and deployed microservices.
• Have solid Spring Framework experience, especially Spring Boot for microservices.
• Have built and consumed RESTful APIs.
• Understand microservice patterns such as API gateway, service discovery, circuit breaker and centralized configuration.
• Have used containers such as Docker.
• Have used version control systems such as GitHub.
• Know Agile methods such as Scrum and Kanban.
• Snowflake experience is a plus.

Conditions

Full-time position.

Based in Jersey City, New Jersey, United States.

Base salary range is $121,200.00 to $181,800.00.
