Description

The role covers application and calibration work on radar and camera based driver assistance systems (ADAS). The team wants someone who works independently, is curious about how systems behave in the vehicle, and likes hands-on work. You will partner with software developers, other application and calibration engineers, and project managers to build customer-specific solutions for next-generation ADAS.

Responsibilities

  • Test, integrate, apply, validate and define requirements for radar and camera driver assistance functions such as lateral control, road-departure mitigation, predictive emergency braking, traffic-sign recognition, headlight control and autonomous driving features.
  • Lead radar and camera integration, debugging and troubleshooting with tools such as CANoe, CANalyzer, CANape and MATLAB.
  • Run bench and vehicle tests on public roads and test tracks.
  • Calibrate radar and camera algorithms in the vehicle and in simulation or bench setups to hit objective and subjective targets set by customers and internally.
  • Support feature development, focusing on integration and system-level behavior.
  • Take part in feature reviews covering performance, robustness and interface alignment.
  • Propose software or logic changes for problems that parameter tuning cannot fix.
  • Make sure development, validation and delivery follow internal processes and guidelines.
  • Join customer test drives and speak for the company in technical discussions.
  • Be the main technical contact for OEMs on application topics, and prepare and present technical material.
  • Pre-analyze customer-reported issues and defects found in internal validation.
  • Investigate in-vehicle performance problems and recommend fixes.
  • Record and assess measurements taken from the vehicle environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering field, or a foreign equivalent.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • 3+ years in systems or requirements engineering and release processes for automotive applications.
  • 3+ years using calibration tools for embedded software or controls.
  • Working knowledge of driver assistance sensors and functions, and real interest in emerging ADAS technology.
  • Hands-on use of Vector CANape to calibrate embedded systems.
  • Direct experience troubleshooting embedded control systems built into a vehicle.
  • Strong spoken and written English. Other languages are a plus.
  • Willing to carry out vehicle tests on public roads and test tracks.
  • Solid grasp of vehicle architecture, vehicle dynamics and driver assistance interfaces.
  • Preferred: a Master's degree in electrical, computer, mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Preferred: a clear sense of ownership, commitment and inventive thinking.
  • Preferred: experience with Agile methods such as SCRUM, Kanban or Lean.
  • Preferred: you work independently in an organized, structured way, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Preferred: strong communication and presentation skills for working with global teams and external customers.
  • Preferred: ability to travel about 4 to 6 weeks per year for domestic and international test drives.
  • Preferred: you can read embedded C/C++ code or Python scripts and make small software updates.
  • Preferred: hands-on lab experience, including sensor mounting adjustments, vehicle modifications, wiring and instrumentation such as DGPS, and troubleshooting test equipment setups.
