Analytics Engineer (Remote)

Description

You turn business questions into data that is reliable and well structured.

You build and maintain models people can trust, trace problems back to their source, and weigh how changes affect downstream users and assets.

You work directly with business partners and a small data team.

The role reports to the Director of Enterprise Data & Analytics and sits alongside business teams, analysts, and data engineers.

You will build governed data models and reusable data products for reporting and automation, and help the way those products are reviewed, released, and maintained keep pace as the company and its data environment grow.

Responsibilities

• Build and upkeep dbt models and certified data marts for core business areas.
• Turn requirements from business partners and analysts into clear definitions, models, and measures.
• Set consistent business logic for shared metrics and dimensions.
• Write and maintain data quality tests, then look into failures and trace them to their origin.
• Record each model's purpose, owner, definitions, dependencies, and known limits.
• Evaluate downstream impact before altering models, metrics, or source assumptions.
• Release changes safely through Git and the team's review and deployment routines.
• Support the datasets and semantic models used in the reporting layer and applications.
• Refine models and workflows as business needs and source systems change.
• Explain tradeoffs, dependencies, and delivery risks to technical and business colleagues.
• Complete ongoing security awareness training and follow company policy.
• Flag security risks to the appropriate Executive Leadership Team member and help fix them.
• Take on other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Write advanced SQL and have built models for production use.
• Have hands-on work with dbt or a similar transformation framework.
• Have worked with a cloud data warehouse such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
• Have designed dimensional models and data marts in depth.
• Have tested, documented, and maintained data models.
• Know Git and collaborative code review and release practice.
• Can dig into data discrepancies and explain what caused them.
• Can work with business partners to clarify requirements and settle differences in metric definitions.
• Communicate clearly, document well, and follow through.
• Preferred: Python for data work or automation.
• Preferred: data integration after mergers and acquisitions.
• Preferred: ownership of a semantic model.
• Preferred: master data management.
• Preferred: data experience in IT, VAR, distribution, or supply chain.

Conditions

Fully remote, with international hiring.

Work US Eastern hours, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

Salary range: $35,000 to $50,000 USD.
