Description

The company applies AI agents, machine learning and performance engineering to compilers and developer tools. This is a summer 2027 internship on a scoped project alongside compiler and AI engineers, centred on code, compiler and performance feedback, experiments and optimization.

Depending on your background, the work may lean toward agentic workflows, learned models, performance analysis or AI-enabled developer tools. You do not need experience in every one of these areas.

Responsibilities

  • Build AI agent workflows that work with code, compilers, benchmarks, performance tools and engineering systems.
  • Create tools that let agents gather data, run experiments, read compiler and performance results, spot optimization chances and suggest next steps.
  • Investigate data-driven methods for compiler optimization, performance prediction, decision support and workflow automation.
  • Build dependable interfaces connecting AI agents to compiler and developer-tool infrastructure.
  • Prototype upgrades to compiler flows, optimization tools, experiment systems or developer workflows.
  • Test ideas on representative workloads with compiler, architecture, AI and performance engineers.
  • Measure correctness, runtime speed, compile time, reliability and other relevant results.
  • Write up the design, experiments, results, limitations and next steps.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in or pursuing a BS, MS or PhD in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or a closely related field.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, C, C++ or a similar language.
  • Solid grounding in data structures, algorithms, software engineering and quantitative problem solving.
  • Coursework, research or project work in at least one of: AI, machine learning, AI agents, compilers, programming languages, systems, performance engineering, optimization or developer tools.
  • Able to design experiments, analyze results, dig into technical problems and explain findings clearly.
  • Keen to learn across the boundaries of AI, compilers, performance and systems.
  • Ways to stand out:
  • Built AI agents, LLM applications, evaluation systems, coding workflows or developer tools.
  • Worked with LLVM, MLIR, compiler optimization passes, code generation, domain-specific languages or compiler infrastructure.
  • Familiar with GPU architecture, CUDA, GPU programming or performance optimization.
  • Hands-on work with reinforcement learning, evolutionary algorithms, predictive modeling, ranking, search or high-dimensional data analysis.
  • Research, internships, open-source contributions or personal projects that measure runtime, compile time, resource use, code quality or developer productivity.

Conditions

Hourly pay ranges from 20 USD to 71 USD, set by the position, your location, year in school, degree and experience.

Applications are accepted until at least November 2, 2026.
