AI Platform Engineer

The company runs and modernises mission-critical technology systems for large businesses, combining proven expertise with AI-driven insight.

This role sits in the AI infrastructure stream of a bank-wide analytics platform. The team supplies the infrastructure, developer tools and agent-based solutions needed to deploy AI applications across the bank safely and at scale.

The work supports a banking client's enterprise Data and AI platform.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain the AI services that run on the client's enterprise Data and AI platform.
• Keep services scalable, governable and secure while giving development teams access to current AI models and technologies.
• Build cutting-edge, scalable AI infrastructure that meets strict banking standards, covering monitoring, networking, security by design, privacy and auditability.
• Prototype emerging AI infrastructure components and turn the useful ones into robust enterprise standards.
• Work with security, risk, data governance and platform teams to align regulatory requirements with enterprise architecture.
• Support consuming teams by applying your skills in infrastructure, AI and platform engineering.
• Act as a collaborative, goal-focused partner who helps drive well-designed AI implementations across the enterprise.
• Create intuitive templates and reference implementations so developer teams can consume AI infrastructure easily.
• Design and implement cloud-native solutions on Azure using containerised services.
• Build robust CI/CD pipelines and drive end-to-end platform automation.
• Develop integrations between AI services, AKS (Kubernetes) and supporting data platforms.

• Required: Strong Azure platform engineering skills, including deep networking knowledge, IAM with Entra ID, Azure AI Services and Azure API Management.
• Required: Proven expertise in generative AI, LLMOps (security, governance, cost and token tracking, rate limiting) and core AI concepts such as agents, RAG, prompt engineering and evaluation.
• Required: Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code, such as Bicep and Azure DevOps.
• Required: Solid Python skills for prototyping AI technologies and troubleshooting platform integrations.
• Required: Hands-on experience designing scalable cloud-native solutions with AKS (Kubernetes).
• Required: Strong focus on reliability engineering, observability and monitoring for AI platforms, using tools such as Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.
• Required: Architecture skills with a clear grasp of security, governance and applied systems thinking.
• Preferred: Familiarity with enterprise data platforms such as Databricks and Unity Catalog.
• Preferred: A developer experience (DevEx) mindset for building intuitive developer tools and reference architectures.
• Preferred: Experience with regulatory requirements and compliance in banking or financial services.
• Preferred: Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools, such as VS Code with Copilot.
