AI/ML Senior Engineer Embedded AI (f/m/d)

Description

The company is a large automotive supplier and one of the firms aiming to bring a complete autonomous driving platform into series production with its partners.

The work turns research into real products. You would join an international team of experts to build new sensors, applications and platforms for future vehicles.

This is a senior role in embedded AI for AI systems on embedded hardware. You would lead technical work from prototypes and benchmarks through to optimizing real-time performance, working alongside algorithm experts and system developers on advanced hardware platforms. You would also pass your expertise on and help other engineers grow their skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead embedded AI activities as a senior engineer and coach others to build their skills.
• Benchmark and build prototypes for the proof of concept phase.
• Develop and apply tools and methods that support this work.
• Help select hardware and become the company's go-to expert on AI SoCs.
• Communicate across disciplines with algorithm experts and system developers.

Requirements

• A master's or Ph.D. in computer science, electrical engineering, physics or a related field.
• More than 5 years of proven expert-level embedded software development.
• More than 2 years of hands-on professional work in embedded AI and real-time DSP or accelerator implementation.
• Strong C and C++ programming, including compiler and debugging methods.
• Experience with Rust is a plus.
• Experience developing deep learning models from research or industry, ideally for perception. Transformers are a plus.
• Experience with code optimization and a solid grasp of memory dependencies.
• Familiarity with fixed-point implementation, quantization, and building tools in that area.
• Familiarity with instruction sets, memory architectures, FPGAs, DSPs and AI processors.
• NVIDIA THOR experience is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills and a good mathematical background.
• Ability to understand complex AI and ML algorithms at every level and find alternative implementations that reduce runtime.
• General knowledge of perception, tracking, fusion and path planning algorithms is a plus.
• Automotive experience is not required but is a plus.
