Description

This curricular internship sits where industrial automation, artificial intelligence and manufacturing meet. Your main task is helping roll out AI-based industrial vision systems that monitor assembly and kitting work automatically, including building and training image recognition models on a live production floor.

The company has made compact hydraulic components for over 40 years, with five product lines serving aerial platforms, cranes, earth-moving, agricultural and industrial machines. It employs over 1,300 people across factories in Modena and Reggio Emilia province. Its R&D unit in Nonantola is a global centre of expertise for compact hydraulics.

The company designs tailored solutions for each customer and is moving hydraulics from conventional to intelligent, connected systems that integrate easily into modern industrial plants.

Responsibilities

  • Study current assembly and kitting steps to pinpoint the critical features to watch and the main sources of error.
  • Help design and set up industrial vision solutions that check kit contents and assembly operations automatically.
  • Gather and prepare image data used to train and validate the models.
  • Help define, train and test image recognition models for counting components and detecting anomalies.
  • Review results and track quality, efficiency and scrap indicators to judge how well the solution performs.
  • Work with production, quality and manufacturing engineering to fit the solution into existing processes.
  • Help write technical documentation and the operating standards needed to industrialise the solution.

Requirements

  • You are currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's programme in automation, mechatronics, computer, electronic or industrial engineering, or a closely related technical field.
  • You speak Italian and English fluently.
  • You have basic programming and data analysis skills.
  • You have a strong interest in artificial intelligence, computer vision, industrial automation and Industry 4.0 applications.
  • Knowledge of Python, computer vision, artificial intelligence or machine learning is a plus.
