Description

The ABAP Kernel Developer Tools team has five members and builds the infrastructure behind one of the company's longest-running and most critical technology stacks.

The team builds and maintains the tooling, automation and platforms that ABAP kernel engineers use every day.

The company has been around for over 50 years.

The team is small and works closely together, with plenty of room to choose technologies and shape solutions.

Work ranges from keeping core engineering systems running to building new tooling and cloud platforms, so you can have a visible impact early on.

You will work where legacy meets new technology and see how a long-lived platform adopts cloud-native methods.

You will learn modern CI/CD, cloud and platform engineering practices and gain exposure to systems programming and developer productivity tools.

Responsibilities

  • Your duties may include the following.
  • Help improve CI/CD pipelines and automation workflows.
  • Build and enhance internal developer tools.
  • Support cloud-native infrastructure running on Kubernetes.
  • Write and maintain technical documentation.
  • Work with Infrastructure-as-Code technologies.
  • Work with developers to make engineering work more productive and smoother.

Requirements

  • You are enrolled as a student at a university or a university of applied sciences.
  • You study computer science, software engineering or a closely related field.
  • You have some programming experience from coursework, personal projects or past internships.
  • You enjoy understanding how software is built, tested and shipped.
  • You are interested in developer platforms, automation, cloud technologies or systems programming.
  • You work well in a team and take ownership of your work.
  • You want to keep learning and trying new technologies.
  • You are fluent in English and German.
  • Optional: experience with Python, Rust, C++, Bash, Git, CI/CD platforms, Kubernetes or Infrastructure-as-Code tools is a plus, but not required.

Conditions

This is a paid working student position.

The role is hybrid and requires you to work from the Walldorf office once per week.

The company is committed to equal employment opportunity and provides accessibility accommodations to applicants with disabilities on request.

Benefits

  • The company focuses on inclusion, health and well-being, and offers flexible working models.
