Tester

Description

The company makes large custom equipment for data center customers, including air handling units and modular data centers. This is an onsite role on one of two shifts.

First shift runs Monday to Friday, 5:00 am to 1:30 pm. Second shift runs Monday to Thursday, 2:00 pm to 12:30 am.

Responsibilities

• Check assigned production material for defects, using the methods you have been trained in.
• Pull defective items out of production and record the reason for each removal.
• Report defects to the right manager.
• Carry out internal QA audits that follow corporate policies, practices and procedures.
• Help maintain QA monitoring programs, including audits, controls and other checks.
• Support new product development and ongoing improvement by building quality control tools such as Lean and Six Sigma into processes.
• Encourage quality and performance improvement across the whole organization.
• Keep work compliant with local, national and international standards and laws.
• Take on other tasks as assigned, since this list is not complete.

Requirements

• A post-secondary education in a relevant field, or a mix of education and experience, is preferred.
• 1 to 2 years of electrical experience.
• Knowledge of QA methods is preferred.
• Practical experience with risk management, product testing, capability studies and control plans.
• Training in Six Sigma techniques and Lean Manufacturing is desirable.
• Highly motivated and self-directed, able to juggle several tasks and work with little supervision.
• Very detail-oriented with an analytical mindset.
• Able to work directly with cross-functional teams and manage change on the floor while working well with shift supervisors.
• Able to review technical documents such as project plans, test procedures and design documents.
• Strong at spotting and solving problems.
• High proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Strong work ethic, a positive attitude toward the team, and clear, concise communication.

Conditions

The role includes shop work, which carries hazards such as flying debris, toxic gases or liquids, crushing, electrocution, explosion, and asphyxiation, so you must work with care at all times.

Follow safety policies at all times and wear required personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, ear plugs and steel-toed boots.

You must work carefully and communicate well, manage your time, finish tasks and work safely.

Occasional lifting is required.

Reports to the Team Leader or Manager.
