The company helps build smarter, healthier and more sustainable buildings. It is a global leader in thermal management, mission-critical building systems, energy efficiency and decarbonisation, working with customers to cut energy use and emissions in data centres, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, advanced manufacturing and higher education.

With more than 140 years in the field, the company combines its technology and lifecycle services with a large field organisation to deliver measurable results for customers.

The Fire Suppression business is a global fire protection leader. It invented the modern fire sprinkler over 140 years ago and makes one of the industry's broadest ranges of fire suppression equipment, including sprinklers, valves, extinguishers, special hazards systems, agents, fittings and related components.

This role covers Australia and New Zealand and suits an engineer who likes solving technical problems, supporting customers, delivering training and working with current fire protection technology.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the APAC Technical Services Manager.
  • Give technical support on fire suppression products to customers and internal staff across Australia and New Zealand, by phone, email, online and on site.
  • Help with commissioning, troubleshooting and fault finding so products perform as intended.
  • Prepare technical drawings, layouts and engineering input for fire suppression systems being introduced to the ANZ market.
  • Work with global and regional technical teams to obtain and pass on accurate product and application information.
  • Support Business Development Managers with technical knowledge, product specifications and sales work.
  • Run technical training for consultants, engineers, contractors and field service teams.
  • Advise customers as a trusted technical source on codes, standards and good practice in fire suppression.

Requirements

  • Experience in fire protection, fire and safety, mechanical engineering, industrial building products or a related engineering field.
  • Ability to interpret specifications, manuals, datasheets, Australian Standards and industry codes.
  • Analytical, hands-on troubleshooting ability and a pragmatic, solution-first mindset.
  • Experience giving technical training, presentations or knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent is highly regarded.
  • Skill in communicating and managing stakeholders, comfortable speaking with people at every level of the business and industry.
  • Clear technical writing for documentation and customer communications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or similar design software.
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort with technical equipment and hand tools.
  • Organisational skills to juggle several priorities at once.
  • A customer-focused technical professional who can turn complex engineering information into practical solutions.

Conditions

Applicants must have full working rights in Australia.

Pre-employment checks apply: references, a medical assessment, criminal history screening, and drug and alcohol testing.

Benefits

  • Be part of a company that leads in fire protection and building technology worldwide.
  • Work with a collaborative, very experienced technical team.
  • Get hands-on exposure to leading fire suppression products and new technology.
  • Access professional development, training and career progression across a global business.
