Description

The company builds the compute, storage and interconnect hardware for its AI supercomputers, and the team that does this work is small, moves fast and has large resources.

The hardware team covers processor optimization, the software stack, systems design for training and inference, and the networking fabrics that link very large supercomputers.

The role sits in the lab team, which builds and runs the lab environments where products are developed and the hardware roadmap is tested.

You would work at the edge of compute scale, and the team considers increasing compute a major driver of AI progress.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full lab strategy so there is enough capacity and capability to deliver the product roadmaps.
  • Deliver new lab facilities on schedule by working across functions and with external general contractors.
  • Use your lab and datacenter construction knowledge to shape lab design, weighing trade-offs with internal and external partners.
  • Keep lab availability on track so facilities and tools are ready for product bring-up, debugging and ongoing development.
  • Coordinate internal resources and communication so work with partners and vendors runs efficiently.

Requirements

  • Have led high-power lab or datacenter design programs as a technical program manager or engineer, from site selection through completion.
  • Understand datacenter infrastructure and products such as servers, GPUs, TPUs, networking and storage, including new product introduction (NPI) processes.
  • Know what lab infrastructure equipment is needed to support product development.
  • Have taken products from concept to volume in a datacenter setting, keeping systems high quality as they scale.
  • Want to help design some of the largest supercomputing systems and work on hard hardware problems.
  • Like working with leading AI researchers and engineers.
  • Care about technical program management and can own and deliver team goals on hard AI compute problems without close supervision.

Conditions

Based in San Francisco, CA, with a hybrid schedule of 3 days per week in the office.
