Description

Journalism is central to the company, and its business strategy depends on readers paying for it.

The Publishing group builds and maintains the content management system used across all of the company's platforms. It lets engineering teams change digital experiences and gives creators connected tools.

The Content Data Products team runs the central, compliance-cleared platform for all of the company's content data.

The team works closely with the New AI Products and Platforms team, whose search, knowledge graph and AI product depends on this infrastructure. Together they make sure the archive is ingested, structured, attributed and indexed across all brands (news, cooking, product reviews, sports and games) and formats (articles, video and interactives).

You will lead the product work for the content data warehouse and its feeding pipelines. You will report to the Senior TPM for NAPP and work with engineering to set product strategy for editorial, AI and partner needs.

Responsibilities

  • Own the strategy and delivery of the content data warehouse and the ingestion pipelines for new content types and metadata enrichment.
  • Write specifications for modeling, ingesting and indexing new formats, such as video, interactives and content from acquired brands, for search, retrieval and AI.
  • Work with operations, legal and other teams to review archive structures, close metadata gaps and make the catalog more complete.
  • Gather requirements, agree data contracts, set feature priorities and report roadmap progress and risks to engineering, design, editorial and leadership.
  • Guide products from concept to launch, keeping quality high at every stage.

Requirements

  • Basic: 3 to 5 years of technical product management experience focused on content data and platform infrastructure.
  • Basic: 3+ years of launching complex software products in close partnership with engineering teams.
  • Basic: hands-on experience with ingestion pipelines for unstructured or multimedia data and their downstream uses, such as search indexes, analytics and ML or AI systems.
  • Basic: ability to work through ambiguous problems, do research, define technical requirements and explain complex technical ideas to many different audiences.
  • Preferred: bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, information science or journalism, or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred: familiarity with search and retrieval systems and how structured metadata supports search engines and AI.
  • Preferred: working knowledge of SQL, relational database architecture and schema auditing.

Conditions

Hybrid role based at the New York City headquarters, typically 3 days a week in the office.

Annual base pay range: $120,000 to $142,000 USD.
