Description

The role is a Tactical Communications Lab Test Engineer based in Getafe (Madrid), Spain, with the company's Defence and Space business.

You will join the Flight and Integration Test Centre, which runs integration, verification and validation testing for the Spanish portfolio of major defence programmes: Eurofighter, A400M, MRTT, C295, Eurodrone, SIRTAP, helicopters and FCAS.

The team works across virtual environments, laboratory rigs, and ground and flight testing to confirm the performance of tactical, mission, safety and connectivity communication systems.

Responsibilities

  • Review technical documents and test requirements, then define and write rig test cases, procedures and requirement specifications for integration rigs.
  • Prepare test datasets, simulation requirements, test scripts, initialisation files and tactical scenarios before each test run.
  • Run rig test procedures, including pre-run crypto and software loading, and operate lab equipment such as MaTE, AIDASS, TIGER and MIGATO along with bus analysers.
  • Evaluate system behaviour after each test and write detailed test reports, supporting root-cause analysis for logged problem reports.
  • Track equipment and system issues through their full lifecycle using configuration and tracking tools such as DOORS, Octane and FTNet.
  • Specify and qualify ad-hoc tools for decoding, recording, translation, emulation and process automation.

Requirements

  • A degree or master's in telecommunications, radiocommunications, electronics or aeronautical engineering.
  • 2 to 6 years in system testing, IV&V or hands-on rig testing. A testing background is highly preferred over purely design-focused work.
  • Solid knowledge of communication systems under test, including tactical datalinks such as Link 16 and Link 22, VMF, mission communications, SATCOM, connectivity and ALIMS, and JRE.
  • Practical experience with lab test equipment such as MIL-STD-1553 bus analysers, sniffers, datalink simulators and test support systems.
  • Skill in splitting requirements, creating test data and managing traceability.
  • A proactive, can-do approach to problems. You adapt quickly, work carefully, and manage your own work to strict project milestones within cross-functional teams.
  • Advanced English and Spanish, both technical and general.
  • Awareness of potential compliance risks and a commitment to acting with integrity.

Conditions

Permanent contract at professional level.

Hybrid working where possible.

Commuting transport offered, depending on the work calendar and home location.

The company welcomes applications regardless of background, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation or religion.

Benefits

  • Annual leave plus extra days off during the year.
  • Competitive salary with special bonus payments.
  • Life insurance, health insurance, employee stock options, a retirement plan and study grants.
  • On-site facilities including a canteen, a kindergarten and a medical office.
  • Access to social and corporate responsibility initiatives.
  • Upskilling and development opportunities in a multicultural setting with more than 140 nationalities.
  • Discounted rates on products and services through employee benefit schemes.
