Description

A System of Systems Concepts Design Engineer role is open in Future Concepts at the Getafe site of the company's defence and space business.

You would join the Future Concepts group, which develops future air power solutions and capabilities, and work within its System of Systems concepts team.

The work covers conceptual design of new solutions and fitting existing systems into larger System of Systems.

Responsibilities

  • Shape multi-domain System of Systems architectures that define how future air power systems interact and operate.
  • Help build and refine SoS frameworks and methods with MBSE, producing rigorous models that reveal emergent behaviour in complex, unmanaged systems.
  • Contribute to SoS roadmaps and technology strategies, and identify the key solution roadmaps that guide long-term evolution.
  • Design scalable, reusable frameworks instead of one-off builds, addressing the 'Architecture of Reuse' challenge and getting more value from the whole portfolio.
  • Run trade-off, feasibility and impact studies, and define interfaces, protocols and integration approaches so mixed systems interoperate and exchange data.
  • Spot architectural risks involving performance, scalability, security and resilience, and address them before they grow.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or PhD in systems engineering, aerospace, telecommunications, computer science or a closely related technical field.
  • At least 5 years in systems engineering or architecture. Training and hands-on work in System of Systems or complex enterprise-level architectures is desirable.
  • Familiarity with architecture frameworks such as UAF, DoDAF and MODAF, and modelling languages such as SysML and UML.
  • Hands-on experience with tools such as Cameo.
  • Solid understanding of defence systems, their operational context, constraints and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven experience defining and integrating varied technical domains such as communications, sensors, command and control, data analytics and cybersecurity.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Able to adapt when requirements change and no clear path exists yet.
  • Works well in a team, and enjoys solving multidisciplinary problems by pooling collective thinking.
  • Full professional fluency in English and Spanish is required.
  • Must be able to meet the requirements for a Spanish National Security Clearance.
  • Awareness of potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity.

Conditions

Permanent contract at professional experience level, within the chief engineering and architecture job family.

Hybrid working where possible, with the place of work based in Getafe.

The company is committed to workforce diversity and welcomes applicants regardless of background, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation or religious belief.

Benefits

  • Vacation days plus additional days off across the year.
  • An attractive salary.
  • Collective transport service, depending on the working calendar and home location.
  • Life insurance, health insurance, employee stock options, retirement plan and study grants.
  • On-site facilities including a free canteen, kindergarten and medical office.
  • Opportunities to join social and corporate social responsibility initiatives.
  • Upskilling and strong development prospects in a multicultural environment.
  • Access to special rates on products and benefits.
