Staff Software Engineer

Description

The company is an AI platform for market intelligence and workflow automation, used by thousands of organizations in business and finance. Its content covers over 500 million premium business documents, including equity research, earnings calls, expert interviews, filings, news and internal proprietary material.

This role sits in the Reference and Entity Data Systems team, which owns the entity data platform: vendor ingestion, entity generation, data quality and freshness, and delivery to downstream consumers. Entity data feeds every downstream system, so errors or stale records cause failures across the company.

Human validation still serves as a safety net in some parts of the pipeline. The goal is to reduce reliance on it by improving correctness, confidence and trust, while keeping speed and scale.

The work spans distributed systems, entity resolution, data quality, AI-assisted decision-making and platform architecture.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture and direction of a major part of the entity data platform
• Design systems that take in and serve large amounts of varied vendor data with high reliability, freshness and accuracy
• Cut manual validation work using AI-assisted resolution, confidence scores, provenance tracking and deterministic matching rules
• Define clear standards for correctness and traceability, such as which source supplied a field and why an entity was matched or created
• Decide where AI-driven methods or rules-based methods give better reliability and explainability
• Build end-to-end integrations covering ingestion, matching, entity generation and delivery
• Handle production incidents in your area and improve observability and reliability over time
• Set engineering standards, mentor engineers, and work with product and downstream consumers on quality bars and success metrics

Requirements

• 8+ years building and running large-scale production systems
• Proven experience with data ingestion, entity resolution, matching or normalization at scale
• Deep expertise in at least one of: distributed systems, data pipelines, reference data platforms, platform engineering, or AI-powered classification and validation
• Strong skills in coding, system design and architecture patterns
• Ability to build trustworthy systems that combine probabilistic (AI) and deterministic approaches
• Strong delivery record: incident response, observability and lasting reliability improvements
• Effective use of AI, testing, automation and tooling to ship with confidence
• Track record of setting standards, driving technical decisions, and raising the level of peers through documentation and mentoring
• Experience evolving or re-platforming live systems that have many downstream consumers
• Preferred: experience with company or financial reference data, or vendor reconciliation
• Preferred: provenance, lineage, confidence scoring, or quarantine and resolution workflows
• Preferred: integrating new data vendors end to end
• Preferred: cloud-native architectures and internal platforms shared across teams

Conditions

Base salary range: $164,450 - $226,550 CAD

Salary ranges are set by function and level, benchmarked against similar growth-stage companies and internal peers. Final offers depend on factors such as candidate experience and may fall outside the listed range.
