The company builds its own products and works heavily with the cloud, open source, RESTful APIs, microservices and containers to release new customer experiences quickly.

This role has no direct reports and centres on hands-on development, technical design and architecture.

This role sits with the company's Canadian entity.

Responsibilities

• Join a team working across the full software development life cycle.
• Act as tech lead developer, owning the technical design and build of cross-functional, multi-platform, fault tolerant application systems.
• Find gaps in internal frameworks and tools that slow developers down, and contribute improvements.
• Set engineering best practices and standards, including code review standards.
• Define technical standards and give hands-on technical support so the standards are consistently met.
• Own the architecture by tracking how changing technology affects the domain, following High Level Design (HLD) methodology and contributing to HLDs.
• Mentor junior and intermediate associates on engineering practices and standards.

Requirements

• At least 6 years of hands-on development experience, preferably in Java, Python, Go or another object-oriented language.
• At least 6 years of experience in application development and/or data design, modelling and architecture.
• Experience with AWS is highly preferred, though Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud also count.
• Experience mentoring junior and intermediate associates and advising technical and business stakeholders.
• Preferred: 8+ years leading the full software development life cycle.
• Preferred: a bachelor's, master's or diploma in computer science, software engineering, information technology or a related field.
• Preferred: experience with data privacy and regulatory compliance frameworks relevant to financial services.
• Preferred: experience working in an agile environment and familiarity with agile development methodologies.

Conditions

Expected annual salary of $173,000 to $197,400.

Hybrid work with 3 days in the office per week.
